Are Throat Punches Allowed

Yeah I've seen people get hit in the neck and throat. Most people have their chin tucked though so don't see it very often. I think there was a heavyweight throat punch KO win if I recall correctly..

Can't remember or find it but while googling I saw an article saying Tyson Fury's voice changed after he got hit in the throat.

Yeah he got caught in the throat in sparring or something. His voice went all croaky.

They aren't illegal, but it's very hard to hit someone in the throat wearing boxing gloves, but yes, it has happened on occasion. As has been mentioned, Fury got hit in the sparring. Nash out.

Wasn't a KO but probably helped secure the stoppage. Ken Norton caught Duane Bobick in the throat with an uppercut was the one I was trying to remember.

It happens quite a few times. I am sure a straight throat shot is illegal but they happen naturally as figther fight for position move to evade shots etc and they land where they land.

Anyone who hangs their chin out there enough to get hit on the throat is getting hit on the chin instead.
