I tuned in to this thread to see what people have to say about Torres. No US medal since 1988 in super heavy? I'm excited. But there are two bronzes now, right? Seems crazy.

Anyway, since we're talking about changes, I think the worst part is that the removal of headgear seems to have made many of the refs ultra-sensitive about everything. Some fights are stopped like every 10 seconds, and then we waste 10 more seconds while the ref tells the fighters stuff, while they ignore him and stare at eachother, just waiting to go at it again. it's hard to enjoy the flow of boxing with the stop-start action.

As far as the French guy, I didn't think it was egregious either. And it's esecially crazy when people have gotten multiple, even numerous warnings in these fights for holding, hitting behind the head, hitting after bell, etc.

The french guy's reaction might have been bad, but I actually think the British guy celebrating like it was his earned win was a worse look. You can't control the ref, but I would be a little embarrassed to win that way anyway. And I definitely wouldn't be flexing my biceps like it was my work that ended it. Weak.

I have not watched much of the boxing, but what I have saw has been below par.

I most likely won't watch anymore of the boxing at these Olympics.

Two cuts going into a fight with Jalolov is certainly less than ideal.
And so it proved. I guess that's why refs take such a dim view of being reckless with the head.

Jalolov a worthy winner but Frazer showed a bit. Sportsmanship was creditworthy too.
