I think without the "eye-thumb " incident García would've lost that fight.eco1 likes this.

One of the greatest wins in NSB history from my perspective.
Matthysse had a bandwagon of **** riders as large as anyone NSB has ever embraced. The classic non American power puncher this site SLURPSSSS heavy.
Very few (Big Dunn was one) picked Danny to win. After that knockdown suddenly Matthysse lovers just disappeared because they were getting destroyed.Lmfao!!!!

I have seen Top Rank budge just a few times in the last decade, the fight has to be very big like Mayweather vs Pacquiao, or Wilder vs Fury. If it is a fight that is generating a lot of interest from fans, media and networks, he will do it. Nobody really cared about Crawford vs Matthysse. It was not a fight on demand. Fans asked for Crawford vs Postol and that got made. That was really the last fight Crawford had that fans wanted to see him in. His resume is piss poor now, he wasted his prime fighting mediocre opponents.
The company's founder and president, Oscar De La Hoya, and his longtime CEO, Richard Schaefer, have been at odds recently over De La Hoya's willingness to end a longtime feud between Golden Boy and Top Rank chairman Bob Arum, which has resulted in boxing's "cold war" between its two biggest promotional companies.
Schaefer said on Tuesday that he could not in good conscience work with Arum, and that it could be a deal-breaker.
"That guy's a disgrace, and then to have Oscar go out there and beg him for a hug," Schaefer said. "You heard the words: 'I love the guy. I want to give him a hug.'
Oscar:
"I have always praised the job he's done at Golden Boy. This is a business and I have to look out for my business. I don't know what personal feud Richard has with Bob Arum, I just don't know."
The feud dates to a fight over the promotional rights to Manny Pacquiao years ago. Top Rank won those rights in a court settlement, but had to pay Golden Boy a portion of Pacquiao's purses until 2012.
Things worsened in 2009 when Arum pulled out of negotiations for a Mayweather-Pacquiao megafight in Dallas, citing Schaefer's insistence that the fight be held at the MGM Grand.
Mayweather told reporters Tuesday that if Schaefer left or was fired from Golden Boy he would find a place for him in Mayweather Promotions
Scheaffer has been Haymons whore for as long as I remember. Even Oscar didn’t understand his insistence to not work with Arum.
Anyway, they seem good now and do lots of shows together.Last edited by SplitSecond; 07-31-2021, 12:25 PM.
