Here in the states yes but Joshua probably is still the bigger star globally. Yes he will stay one of the biggest stars even with a lose, majority saw him lose to triple G and yet his popularity continued to shoot upwards. The guy who beats convincingly doesn't become a star overnight, takes a few big wins for that.
Well hes going the same route as his daddy Froid. Cherrypicking, using the a side to tilt everything in his favor and taking roids. And lastly not passing the torch. Hes gonna fight some berto type fighter as his last fight "cuz he dezervs it.
He's a big attraction because of his ability, mastery of the sport, and is known to take fights no one else is willing to.
Right now he's fighting in a division where he has zero advantages. When he moves up to 175 even less so. If he ever loses to any of these guys I'm sure it will be to a hard fought war that we'll all appreciate. So if he loses because he took it too far and fought some he had no business fighting, I don't think it will hurt his rep but just prove again that he had he had the balls to challenge himself.
If someone ever beats Canelo that would be great for their resume, but they need to keep challenging themselves and fighting more champions to get to superstar level. Right now everyone within ear shot of Canelo are too chicken-Shit to unifiy because of fear of loosing and missing out on a fight with Canelo.
If he's really big, why is it looking like he's the one chasing Plant who is not even half as big?
Ughhhhh because he wants to become undisputed??? Only a hand full of fighters in the sport today with the mentality, although he skirted around Golovkin for a minute,of fighting anyone/anywhere to become the betting a division.

Exactly the answer I was looking for.
Becoming undisputed is the obvious answer,
but how many fighters are vigorously trying to collect belts?
Some even turn down shot at titles plus insane money,
and they'll never become huge stars throughout their entire careers.
