Nash believes that this would be a very close fight. Let's be honest, Taylor barely sc****d past Postol, he isn't up there with the Fury's, Canelo's, or Crawford's of the world. Mikey has a reputation for pricing himself out, this is not news, it's common knowledge. Mikey hasn't had a belt or competitive, high profile fight in years, he's Keith Thurman without the lisp.

I agree with you. He has done nothing, but boxing is not a sport where big fights/opportunities are given to those who deserve it all the time.

Margarito did zero to deserve a 154lb title fight vs Pacquiao.

Andre Berto had no business in the ring vs Mayweather, the payday could have gone to a more deserving fighter.

Amir Khan had done nothing to deserve a Canelo payday.

Devin Haney was quite literally gifted a title, based on beating zero amounts of top Lightweights.

I wish all title fights consisted of only the most deserving, the current top fighters. But that is not always the case. That is seldom the case.

The baseball equivalent of boxing politics would be, imagine that despite which teams have the best record in baseball, win playoffs games, beat the best of the best, are obviously superior, etc, but MLB Commissioner Bud Selig chooses The LA Dodgers vs NY Yankees for the World Series, even if they ****** all year and did not earn it. Because they are two of the most popular teams in MLB history and nobody cares to see the Kansas City Royals vs San Francisco Giants. Ratings and revenue would be much better if the World Series was Yankees vs Dodgers, so that’s who goes even if they had a losing record and had terrible performances all season.

That’s boxing.

The difference here is that Mikey does not have the cash draw or following of Canelo, Floyd or Manny. Mikey may think he is a marquee fighter but the numbers simply don't support Mikey's demands and he's not willing to fight through the ranks to become mandatory.

I like Mikey. Always have. I don't like Arum and never have. I feel like the majority of nasty drama between fighters and their promotion that I can recall over the years involved Top Rank. The fact that Bob rips his own fighters in the public is telling and he has just always come off as a nasty person.

Whoever Micky Mouse fights will probably be his last or another in around 3 years and he'll be Slow Poke Rodriguez by then because he doesn't stay busy. Add to that Cotto threatened to leave T.R. in order to get the pacquiao fight. Then it took Cotto to actually leave TR to get the Mayweather fight. It was Arum himself that screwed up the Gamboa vs Juanma dance. fast forward to these days Arum jammed up the Terence Duckford vs Keef Thurman and Porter potential fights by offering them peanuts
