No, I heard the interview with Vitali. He didn't bring up Lewis, the interviewer did.

He said he accepts the fact that it's too late for the Lewis fight now, and what he now wants to do is fight the next generation of heavyweights like Cristobal Arreola.

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round, was getting outlanded and was hurt again later in the fight.

      punches landed

      Vitali 156

      Lewis 102

Lewis was exhausted and worn down from the accumulation of punches, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission that night and would've KO'd Lewis if the fight had continued.

All 20,000 fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and boo'd Lewis after the fight. Vitali was the real winner of that fight, he battered Lewis into retirement.

      Lewis promised Vitali a rematch

Vitali destroyed Johnson in 2 and the scared Lewis retired like a coward shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 25 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew Vitali would destroy him and tarnish his legacy.

The Lennox stuff grew old a long time ago, but I really like how the VitMan conducts himself in interviews otherwise - even though I don't dig his style in the ring (just a personal preference, not hate). Both him and Wlad are gentlemen, and good ambassadors for the sport. I have no problem with acknowledging them as the true HW champs right now.

Arreola is getting hurt later this month. I mean, really hurt. When he goes down, he might not make it back up for a good few minutes.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda, he lost that's all that matters. He lost to a overweight, past prime, 38 year old Lewis.

Folks always forget that Lewis's two were the LAST two of the fight and he had taken over the fight, that he had a case for the 3rd, and that at the last bell sounded he blasted Klit and Vitali was wobbly heading back to the corner. It was a fun fight and after all the guff Lewis took over the years, it was nice he left the world wanting more.

Lewis was in his prime in that fight, coming off a dominant win over Hasim Rahman and mike tyson.

Lewis hadn't been in his prime since 2000 and was already sliding then. His drop in hand speed was palpable from fights like Morrison and Mercer to Holyfield in 1999 and his legs were so-so after Rahman I. Heck, Rahman shook him with a jab early in the rematch before Lewis just took over for the walk.
