He might not be good now, but SRL was a good commentator in the 80s and 90s when he was with HBO and covered most of the Tyson fights. I don't know what happened to him, but he sounds jaded and uninterested nowadays. Maybe Tyson was just that exciting.

Andre Ward did commentary but stopped, he was brilliant.

I'm surprised anyone would hate Al Bernstein - he's about the most neutral and balanced commentator there is.

But you can never beat Lampley and RJJ - you never felt they were just doing a job, they loved watching fights and their enthusiasm made even dull fights exciting e.g. Ruiz vs Golota Man do I miss them.

Current favourite has to be Malignaggi. I love how hyped up he is.
    Ward stopped commentary?

      Ranallo
      Kreigel
      Mannix

I actually like Bernstein, Tessitore and Kenny.

If Snoop becomes a regular at ringside commentary I’ll have to watch without the sound. Absolute joke.

To be fair Lampley was always the blow by blow guy, that's his craft and he's the best at it - Merchant or guest boxer like Foreman and RJJ are supposed to give analysis. I'd say around the start of Boxing After Dark he stopped being just a describe what you see guy and chimed in with his own views, which to be honest I don't mind if he's wrong, because he was always genuine and passionate. I'd rather someone genuine like him who was almost on the verge of tears at times than someone like Stephen A who just bandwagons and is totally clueless about the history of boxing, at least Lampley was there and knew his history. Stephen thought Khan was Prince Naseem Hamed, said the Prince stopped boxing after getti g knocked out, and then Porter I think it was corrected him live on air, he's embarrassing.

I've only heard him a couple of times on Sky and not since.

                Todd Grisham
                Timothy Bradley
                Chris Mannix

Grisham is really bad, he was terrible with the WWE as a Play By Play Commentator

He never held his tongue. I used to think what gives this old fool the right toinsult fighters, but I kind of miss that now - everyone's so nice and courteous now. He was especially mean when he was half drunk

"I think I'd rather watch tyres rotating" - Ruiz v Golota

Al Bernstein is awful. I'm a big Duran fan and he never did anything but run Duran down. All. The. Time. I don't know what he had against Roberto but he clearly had something going on there. Never cared for him or his mustache. He's a fat liar and biased and trash. I'd like to see him meet Duran once and watch Hands of Stone knock twenty pounds of jelly off his spare ribs, the big meat bag.

Larry definitely grew on me over the years. He damn sure spoke his mind. I think he also drank during the fights which made things even more fun.
