That's an interesting take. I always wondered why the IBF had so many pedestrian fighters in their rankings.

Yeah. I see people get mad at the IBF ratings all the time, but I rarely see people get mad at the promoters for avoiding the IBF's transparent but strict rulebook.

Once again the business of boxing gets in the sport's own way. The sanctioning bodies and promoters causing problems. I actually respect the IBF rules over all the rest but the rankings are garbage. And promoters manipulating the rankings are trash too

That is why Castano and Charlo need to run it back immediately instead of wasting time and taking major step backs dealing with Mandatory's nobody cares about. Mell beats Murtazaliev rather easily, Decent fighter with some pop but VERY SLOW

I also think Castano beats Tyzsu right now which is why I think he will instead wait and try to fight Jake Culcay, Liam Smith or Tony Harrison next instead of Castano

I dont really get why some say that Murtazaliev deserved the mandatory? Maybe for a shot at the IBF title, but Charlo has three titles.

The guy doesnt even have a win over a top 100 fighter. Just awful to force Charlo to fight him.
Someone who is appointed a mandatory for a unified champ should honestly have a top 5 win on his resume.

These organisations should sit together and work on a new set of rules to appoint a mandatory for unified champions. The top rated guys of each organisation should fight each other to determine a proper mandatory. That rotation system just encourages fighters to vacate some of those ****** belts.

Every calander year the fighter with the best ring record should be given the mandatory title shot regardless of who the promoters them. If they do that fans will know who this best of each weight division. As it stands boxing is closer to pro wresting than a legit sport.

This fight should only be for the IBF Belt, no matter what you think of Charlo. This dude clearly hasn't earned the right to fight for the other belts. I hope they have some clarification on that.

Both Jermell and Castano fell below my expectations, neither looked special.

Charlo should drop all his fake belts, maybe have a nice long vacation with his young family, and come back at middle when he's ready. There'll be a lot of fights waiting for him there not involving his bro. Screw the belts. They are worthless.

Castano looked too big for the division too. Maybe they can meet there in a couple of years.
