Wilder needed an old school coach but Wilder is too deluded to listen to anyone

He won’t improve him whatsoever cause he’s a yes man like Deas and the other stooges.

Breland was the only guy in that team willing to tell him the truth about his flaws but Wilder was too deluded to listen.

i think he was brought in to navigate the press conferemces mainly because he can actually talk. wilder is borderline ret arded

But was Breland the guy to be able to teach up those flaws? I was not around to watch Breland in real time but I've seen number of his fights, maybe you can or others can correct me if you know better but....it looks to me like Breland coached him up to be the 1-2 type style that he had when he was a fighter....he did not have much of an inside game and he paid for it badly...he went down in a heap just like Wilder.

This is not to put down Breland just to say...if Breland couldn't teach him that, then Wilder doesn't know what he doesn't know. He does now..only because Tyson Fury showed him.

I doubt Malik Scott would be able to bring up Wilder from the raw product to now, but I think it might just be that Wilder has not had the right guy to teach him those parts in a way that makes sense to him, potentially Breland was not as confident in those instructions or something idlk. Simply putting it to "oh he didnt want to listen wihch is why he has those flaws" I don't think that's a good excuse for a teacher - a better teacher might have brought in someone else for that portion of training for example, someone who Wilder would listen to...maybe an old fighter or trainer who knew the ins and outs of the trenches..or developed a multiple fighters who was good at those areas. Maybe that happened and I missed it but I never heard of that

I don't remember Scott have much of one either but Breland was very limited in that area, less than avg for his caliber. Because Wilder has so many flaws, it's hard for me to really blame him for firing Brelend, this stuff has been apparent for years.

Tbh, it’s probably too late for anyone to develop Wilder’s style, technique etc. I mean he’s 35, been boxing professionally well over a decade. It’s a shame he never went to a guy like Manny Steward back when he turned pro, I think Manny could have worked wonders with Wilder.

For me, it just seems like Wilder surrounds himself with glad-handing yes men. I fully expect them to try the exact same thing they tried in fight 2 and expect different results.

He seems like a yes-man from what I've seen, especially during the press conference and certain interviews where he seems to be experiencing the same delusions as Wilder. This might be a ridiculous theory but is that his plan? Does he think Wilder won't listen and needs to feel like he's in control all of the time and making all of the decisions so he's creating that illusion for Wilder so he can get through to him?

I doubt it and even if it was the case I don't think it will change the outcome if the fight happens.

If Wilder has made fundamental changes I think going in with Fury without a tuneup fight is a mistake. Muscle memory operates differently under pressure and the body tends to reach for familiar motions under stress.
