The context:
-It is 2006
-The WBO has just become fully recognized as a major world championship by the WBC; the WBA and IBF had done so years before
-Liakhovich is in his prime, 23-1 and having just won the belt off Lamon Brewster, who took it off Klitschko
-Since winning the lineal title off Foreman in 1997, Briggs' notable fights were a loss to Lewis, a robbery draw against Botha, a KO win on Mercer, and losses to McLine and Fields
-Briggs, noted for his asthma and poor gas tank, is trailing on all three scorecards in the final round
-Briggs knocks Siarhei Liakhovich out and out of the ring with 1 second on the clock, TKO at 2:59 of round 12 to win his second world heavyweight championship almost a decade after he dethroned Big George in a fight many didn't give him credit for winning (I scored it for Briggs, but most had George).
