Lots of people on here say that if a MMA guy was a skilled boxer he would have chosen boxing over MMA but I think a lot of those MMA guys have seen too many boxers end up punchy and would rather choose a sport that offers less physical damage in the long run.

Getting beat up then knocked out is more damaging than the fast and sudden ko’s we often see in mma

I always think it's funny when MMA fans downplay the warrior heart boxers have . Getting punched in the face constantly by the best Strikers in the world even in 8oz gloves will do more damage then anything mma fighters deal with . I've watched to many fights were a fighter ends up losing his life. Breaking your ankle does suck tho

A multitude of reasons. They fight longer. 15 mins average MMA fight, 25 mins for titles. vs 24 min for an 8 rounder and obviously longer as they fight more commonly at 10 and 12 rounds as they progress. They strike the entire time and aren't rolling around butt-sniffing.

Not to mention it's been around way longer and is still more practiced internationally than MMA.

What's the average amount of punches that might land in a typical MMA fight? 20?

Limited striking targets ,boxing really is basically just head shots mainly with some body punching because it’s not a common thing where a boxer is a body puncher . In MMA half the time is grappling so you aren’t sustaining constant blows to the head and boxing gloves cover a wider margin of a the head then MMA gloves .

So would you say boxing is more dangerous than MMA? I've seen and heard countless MMA fanboys say how MMA is much more dangerous than boxing and that boxing is one dimensional and limited in skills.

Is it worse for your brain to be KO'd than be made unconscious by choke submission? Obviously taking multiple blows to the head prior to being KO'd is worse, but they take big kicks, elbows and knees to the brain also.

Let's just say eliminating all the prior punishment, is a one-punch KO worse than getting choked out fully unconscious?

Granted I don't think it happens often but I've seen a few cases. One recent highlight where the guy thought he killed the dude and had this look of horror on his face.
