It is knowing when you have had enough, it is quitting but it's not as "shameful" as some of you make it to be, the fighter knew when he needed a break or when he had enough.

Great poll. I've always wondered about this. I think it should be considered quitting, especially since you were conscious enough to take a knee.

A knockdown, is what it is - you were put on you behind by your opponent or "knocked down" without your help. The punch rendered you semi or fully unconscious, which consequentially knocked you down or in some cases, knocks you out. If you take a knee on your own volition, it means that you decided on your own to go down and then that should be considered "quitting".

You shouldn't be able to call "timeout" until the round is done. I wonder if there is an official ruling on this.

Taking a knee is a sign of conceding defeat. If a boxer takes a knee it means he want his opponent to stop the pounding. good example is cotto took a knee and beg for margarito to stop pounding him.
