I suspect he thought the rematch with Poirer was an easy fight. He was stomped for sure, I thought lastnight the odds would be moreso in his favour, it was in a full arena, he left the kids at home and he stayed from the media so he could focus on the fundamentals of MMA.

Punching with mma gloves vs mostly wrestlers and jiu jitsu guys are a different animal to boxing with boxing gloves against a pro boxer

Easier to get kos with punches in mma

1. Gloves are smaller
2. Most mma fighters aren't boxers, they're mostly wrestlers and jiu jitsu guys
3. Mma fight you have to worry about other things besides punches, you have to worry about kicks, takedown, etc

Getting kos in boxing is harder

1. gloves are bigger and more padded, easier to block punches
2. Boxers are better trained in punching and avoiding/blocking punches
3. Boxers only have to concentrate on punches

Connor has little chance with quality boxers in a boxing match

Finally some sense in this thread. Mayweather used his high guard and walked straight forward against Mcgregor . He never does this against top fighters. McGregor had nothing that can hurt or worry a top level boxer
