It’s a completely relevant comparison. I’m not saying he’s as great as those two guys but like Crawford has fought nobody elite at 147, Mayweather fought nobody elite at 140 and Pacquiao fought nobody elite at 135. The point is Crawford’s lack of qualify opposition at 147 doesn’t change the fact he became lineal champion at 135 and 140, and you don’t become lineal without beating the best available opposition in your division.
Hopefully when his deal runs out with Bob, he doesn’t extend and develops a working relationship with PBC, which will allow us to see him face Spence, Porter, Ugas. Thurman, Garcia etc.Last edited by RJJ-94-02=GOAT; 07-11-2021, 01:02 AM.Comment

Floyd made 2 fights at 140 and beat the #1 140 lber in Gatti and Pac also made a short visit at 135. While Pac didn’t fight the best at 135, Floyd’s win over Gatti is WAY better than any of Bum’s wins at 147 and he’s been campaigning there for 3 years fighting useless mandatories and willingly fighting those like washed Brook

To put in perspective the difference between two levels in skill level, lets say Errol and Pac are at this highest level in the weight division. Then we say a level under them would be Shawn Porter, and Keith Thurman. Then, another level down would be Danny G. and Ugas. So, just saying, the difference between a few levels in competition could be the difference between Ugas and Pacman. So, Crawford stepping up in competition could literally be the difference between getting knocked down and surviving against Kava, and getting knocked down and either not getting up or getting stopped a few seconds later.

Just like how you mentioned one weight class for Pacman and Mayweather where they didn't fight the best competition, Crawford hasn't managed to fight one first or second ballad hall of famer in three weight divisions, even when he "cleared out" 140. I guess Crawford beat the best available competition, but when the best available competition includes Julius Indongo, then we have to raise red flags. And when he struggles with guys like Kava, then we really have to raise red flags. Fyi, I hope you know Bud is going to resign with TR. The dude is getting paid at least 2 to 3 million a fight, fighting mandatories and one legged fighters, Tbh I wouldn't blame him for resigning. I would just sit back and finally accept that Crawford doesn't care about furthering his legacy.

Oh something else, T bud fought Ray beltran, and Viktor Postol for VACANT lines/ring magazine titles. I give him credit for the Postol win, but ray F3cking Beltran come on now. I can tell you're T bud fan, and I don't have a problem with that cause I used to be as well. But, after I realised how fraudulent his career was I hopped off the hype train.Last edited by Keysandboxing; 07-10-2021, 08:27 PM.Comment

If Crawford resigns with Top Rank, then he'll deserve every single criticism that you can throw at him. That whole narrative that the PBC guys don't want to fight him would need to die. Crawford would be ducking the whole division. At least Timothy Bradley had 4 fights vs Pacquiao and Marquez when he stay at Top Rank island.

I’m not actually a Bud fan, like his style but I find his personality rather grating. I’m actually a big Spence, have been since he turned pro as he reminded me of a young Mike McCallum.

You can’t hate on who he beat at 135 and 140 whatsoever, they were the best the division had to offer. Klitschko never beat one HOF’er but we still appreciate his greatness. You can’t call his career fraudulent, that’s crazy talk man. His welterweight run has been majorly underwhelming but that doesn’t change what he achieved at 135 and 140.
If you look at it coldly and objectively, his resume is actually very solid:
-Defeats Burns (2 Division World Champion, #4 Ring, WBO Lightweight champion, 4 defences.)
-Defeated Beltran (#2 Ring.)
-Defeated Dulorme (#10 Ring.)
-Defeated Postol (#1 Ring, WBC Light Welterweight Champion, 0 defences.)
-Defeated Indongo (#5 Ring, Unified WBA, IBF Light Welterweight Champion, 1 defence.)
-Defeated Horn (#8 Ring, WBO Welterweight Champion, 1 Defence)
-Defeated Kavaliauskas (#10 Ring)
So if you break that down he’s defeated 7 top 10 guys and 4 top 5 guys across three divisions. He’s claimed 2 lineal titles, 6 ABC titles and 1 undisputed title, going 15-0 (12 KO’s) in World title fights, 5-0 (3 KO’s) in Lineal title fights and 8-0 (5 KO’s) against former, current or future World Champions. To suggest that represents a fraudulent career is baseless and inaccurate.

Gatti was pretty shot at that point, was he #1 in 2005? I’d have thought he’d have been around #3 or #4 behind Hatton, Cotto and Tszyu who would retire soon after.

I’m not really defending his 147 run at all, but as you’ll see in my post above, his resume is actually very solid. I feel a lot of people hold Crawford to a higher standard than other fighters.Comment
