At the time there was plenty of pearl clutching regarding Tyson's "colorful" comments. I will be honest, I always enjoyed Mike's tirades and I don't particularly like Deontay's.

Mike's statements always just flowed effortless and I think they came out of his mouth naturally. I also believed he meant every word he said. When I listen to Wilder's, I get the feeling he sat in front of the mirror the night before and practiced his comments. They just feel contrived...I dunno, just my opinion.

Isn't that all communication in a nutshell? It's more than just the words spoken, it's how they are spoken, the context with which they are spoken and how the recipient receives them. What makes boxing any different than any other aspect of the real world?

I'd also add that boxing fans are no different than any other sports fans and probably a little better. We are all going to interpret things differently and have bias towards those fighters we follow. I don't get the people who root for promotional companies or content providers but I don't have to. So long as we treat each other with respect it's all good.

The internet allows people to act disrespectful without much fear of consequences. Whenever I go to fights and speak to other boxing fans in person, 99% of conversation and debate is incredibly respectful even if we disagree.

Trash talking, bragging rights and one upsmanship goes with the territory of being a fan. Some can take it, SOME CAN'T.
What makes it intolerable is when a fan base refuses to accept FACTS (as harsh as they may be). Resorts to childish antics and deflection.

We as fans, for better or worse, live vicariously through those we root for (to some extent). Casuals wear many hats and cheer for many guys (if they keep winning).

A drooler/groupie/fan boi/stan (?) are cancers to a fan base.

At no point should a person get violently upset. As they say, our heroes don't know we are bickering in their defense

You have to look at it from Wilder's position. Fury knew this fight was going to be 100% tougher. No Breland to spike the water bottle, no heavy outfit as Wilder threw it out, and no egg weights as Fury's gloves to be inspected carefully this time.

(Of course I'm being sarcastic, but it's going to be fun when Wilder reacts to all of this).

I mean, what is Malik going to say, that Wilder is a delusional idiot that doesn't stand a chance? Anyway, the world is crazy, and boxing fans even more.. now some are saying Fury doesn't have covid, he's just scared, or on PEDS, or in depression again, or.. whatever.
