Whyte offers to take Fury's place and fight Wilder same date...

Bingo.....I'm no Hearn-hater, but this is the kinda rubbish that exposes all the smoke and mirrors that ALL promoters use and is frustrating...
Wilder has just won a long-winded legal process to force a rematch with Fury for the WBC belt, as if he's accepting a Whyte fight at 18 days notice instead.
If Whyte is willing to fight Wilder with 2 weeks notice, why not pick a much, much, much better opponent for his August stateside event???Comment

That is not true because Bob Arum has already contradicted this at the Wilder/Fury III press conference. He said that Fury had been fully vaccinated. Would you like for me to provide you with the proof and evidence?
The fight has been postponed because Fury and 9 other members of his team have contracted COVID-19, it's as simple as that,.
Yet again, you provide absolutely zero evidence to substantiate your wild claims.
Fury didn't defend the belts he won against Klitschko because he had a mental breakdown, as has been unable to defend his WBC belt due to the pandemic & Wilder going into hiding for 12 months.
Now this is where I agree with you; Just as he suffering from one right now. He is cracking under pressure from the pending Wilder fight that he does not want. Which is why he pulled out by postponing it two weeks out. You know I am right. You know that Fury doesn't have Covid.
Deep down you know it's all smoke and mirror and a face-saving publicity stunt in order for Fury to avoid the Wilder trilogy bout. Now let's be honest here! This cancellation had more to do with Anxiety and fear than anything.

didn’t you say you were British? That was you right?
there are loads of supposedly British posters on these boards who hate British fighters. It’s weird.
why would you pretend to be British if you’re not? Weird af

Fury probably doesn't want the Wilder fight but not because of fear or anxiety.
I believe more because having beaten the living daylights out of him last time round and completely humiliating him in the ring, he has got nothing left to prove.
Wilder is very much yesterdays man and no longer relevant in the heavyweight scene.
He's lost his aura of invincibility and any credibility he may have had regarding the hardest hitting heavyweight got shot down when he couldn't put Fury away.
The guy is a punchline to a really bad joke that doesn't get any funnier thre more it's told, just sadder and more pathetic.Comment

you’re the second poster to raise this.
Seems pretty clear to me. Whyte has lost to AJ already and probably feels he can’t beat him. Otherwise he would have taken the fight when it was offered.
However, Whyte does believe he beats Wilder and had said so numerous times.
doesn’t mean I agree with him necessarily, but I don’t see the logic in your argument. AJ and Wilder are different fighters with different traits (and Whyte’s already lost to one of them in what was a fairly one-sided fight)Comment

Looks good on paper. And obviously, most fans would be intrigued by such a fight for a couple of reasons. Mainly two reasons: Wilder is currently vulnerable and his stock is at an all time low; this leads to fans and media wondering if even Whyte can KO Wilder just because Wilder was KO’ed by Fury, a much better fighter than Whyte.
Secondly, Whyte just looked good, patient and poised in his avenged win over Povetkin. So his stock is high.
I personally think Wilder KO’s Whyte still. Wilder lost to Fury, yes, we get it. But Whyte is not Fury. No where near. But nobody cares about that. Fans mostly care about which fighter recently won and which fighter recently lost. Opposition does not matter. This would lead to Wilder winning a “comeback” fight and claims of “He’s back!”, bringing his stock back up a bit. When in reality Wilder should always be the favorite over Whyte.
Problem with all that is, is that even though I think Wilder would KO Whyte, he is still a top 5 HW and Wilder should not take him lightly by fighting him as a late replacement. Wilder with a full camp of training for Whyte, he can KO Whyte. But if he overlooks him by fighting him tomorrow, Wilder could be the one to get KO’ed.Comment
