Come on man, that's insane. I will agree, that Norteno music is terrible, I'm with you on that. It's the country music of Mexico but Mexico has a rich tradition in music, so much so there is no country in Latin America that didn't grow up listening to Mexican music, including PR.nothing but love to my mexicans.
**** you mayan_gay, rogelia, xcaret, htowntexan and those that like these guys ...
but you guys should stay away from music - mexican music is **** IMO but the cuisine - top of the food chain.
all the music sounds like merry-go-round music - when i hear that music i feel like a joke is being played on me.
with the exceptions of the boleros ... luis miguel and some vicente and fernando fernandez ... the rest, meh.
now if you want music, look no further than PR ... salsa, guaguanco, plena, bomba .... the musical talent there just obliterates mexicos.
Especially the older gen, in PR they would always tell me, "I grew up litening to the Mexican greats and I loved it". I got that all the time in PR when I lived there.
Also, hate to tell you this bro but Guaguanco, salsa and all those rhythms aren't Puertorican, they are Cuban.
It's like in Mexico they love and play Cumbia but that **** isn't from Mexico......Comment

I'm a pro musician and all commercial "pop" music is repetitive it's meant to be that way simple and repetitive so uneducated listeners can understand it and buy CD think of Beyonce Britney Chris Brown their music is VERY repetitive we leave in a capitalist system so it's all about the money. Here in PR the "real" music is Seises Bomba Plena I haven't study mexican music so I won't go there.Comment

Real Mexican music is Rancheraas, Mariachis and trios. It's influenced by Spanish and French music that introduced the instruments to Mexico. Actually, a lot of the "grupos" of musicians are based from Mexican trios and Mariachis, even in PR.I'm a pro musician and all commercial "pop" music is repetitive it's meant to be that way simple and repetitive so uneducated listeners can understand it and buy CD think of Beyonce Britney Chris Brown their music is VERY repetitive we leave in a capitalist system so it's all about the money. The real Mexican music native to Mexico though is Native Music from the indians though. Most of the rhythms in PR came from the African beats that came from Cuba out of Africa. That's why "salsa" isn't really the proper name for it, it's "Afro-Cuban music".Comment

The PR tradition of trios or seises wasn't brought here by no mexican it was from spain that's why our national instrument is the cuatro PR has a great musical tradition right now two of the best sax players are PR David Sanchez and Miguel Zenon and the best conga player also PR Giovanni Hidalgo. Puerto Rico is small in size but h HUGE in size.Real Mexican music is Rancheraas, Mariachis and trios. It's influenced by Spanish and French music that introduced the instruments to Mexico. It sounds like a punch of people in the room just finished eating refried mexican beans and there just farting up the place. Brompt-Brompt-bom-bom.
It doesn't have any soul maybe that's why I've never seen a black mexican.Comment

I don't really think Eddie Chambers can accomplish much more than Briggs and Rahman did.
