How long will Gary Russell Jr be allowed to hold the WBC fw title hostage?

Seems like a really long time ago that he fought Nyumbayar and he doesn't have a fight scheduled that I am aware of

Any news on this guy or the hostage situation we have here with that poor defenseless(see what I did there) championship?

I believe it has been longer than that as of now, it's like when Dan Santos had the WBA 154lb title for 2 years without a defense

Nobody cares much about belts. That's why. None of the belts are legit.

But people love unifications and Undisputed title fights, they also give younger fighters some credibility.

In some ways, yes, you are right. But, really, not many even know or care Russell holds a belt. He seems non-issue.
If you are a belts guy, they should enforce their rules, I agree. Personally, I don't even follow belts.

He is a talented dude no doubt was just wondering since he is a world champion if there were any plans for him to have a notable fight at 126. He isn't getting younger and around that age where abilities start to fade, would like to see him back in action honestly.

Me too. I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Davis at 135 next.
