They all put turd fights on: DAZN, PBC, TR..How many fights have we seen Luis Ortiz taking on someone looking for a soft spot on the canvas? He could be in meaningful fights too but PBC instead treats us to Alexander Flores.

He got 6 million pounds to fight Joshua. Think that is around $8.5 million. Not sure he is begging for a payday. It might be a good fight & a win over Martin in the US is a good way to showcase yourself there.

The point is, FOX and ESPN are established American networks. Sure, they all put on s#itty shows, especially during the pandemic. But if you're trying to introduce a new product into a new market, I'd assume you'd offer the best you can...not something people don't care about. DAZN has been doing this since their inception. Unlike the other networks you named, boxing is DAZN's bread and butter when it comes to Americans, not darts or snookers.

I have no clue what DAZN's subscription numbers are as opposed to what their goals are for this stage of their development. I would imagine a few factors are in play for the decision to go with someone like Franklin as opposed to Martin:

1) since they are a global entity, and they use Matchroom, a fighters selection will be based on more than one market. I don't live in the UK but I imagine the last memory their viewership has of Martin is getting sparked out in a few rounds by AJ. I'm not sure the difference between Martin or Franklin is going to impact US viewership or subscriptions. I'd guess that Franklin has been televised as much as Martin in the past few years.

2) Last I checked, Franklin was promoted by TR who have been cutting far better and more promising fighters than Jermain from their roster. It might be easier to get a fight with him than Martin with PBC.

3) Franklin is an easier opponent but one with an undefeated record. Unfortunately in today's game, that "0" means something more than it should. Whyte has beaten good fighters but it's not like he's a world beater. If you're trying introduce a product (Whyte) into a new market, make sure you can deliver a win the first time out.

plus that guy, ness? whatever his name is, he is a notorious eddie hearn/aj hater and pro wilder guy. in that interview he was pressing for a pro-wilder narrative by bringing up the gloves but colbert had his own mind. why would ness remove it and then diss wilder like he's just done, inc quoting aj in the process? really odd that.
