Tank would never fight Prograis, so why you picking him to win?

It really would’ve been no different from your mom saying “you’re losing this fight.”

The wording is different in this case cuz Floyd said, “on the unofficial, you’re down.” As opposed to Floyd offering his own opinion saying, “I got you down in this fight.”

But Floyd as acting promoter does call into question ethics of the situation. He’s not an official coach/trainer. I think a promoter should be unbiased and neutral as far as the actual fight itself.
Boxing isn’t basketball ball, there are rules and for a promoter to bypass his trainer and do anything is out of the normal, nor have you ever seen Lou Dibella, Don King, Bob Arum or any other promoter go into a corner during a fight of one they have interest in, it’s wrong as two left shoes and their are specific guidelines within a corner and I love Gervonta and Floyd my Michigan dude but this was wrong.

While I am not a Tank hater, i’m not a supporter just yet. I do like him, but not in a way like i’m going to be his attorney when he is being bashed. I do stay neutral on him as i’m am still watching him to see if he’s someone i’m going to root for or root against. I think that for those who hate him or criticize him, to them he is guilty by association (Mayweather promotions). And they will never like him, unless he becomes best friends with GGG or Tyson Fury.

As far as me taking a step back and seeing what he does first, i’m waiting to see if he’s just going to be another Terence Crawford; who I rooted for in the beginning until he pretty much plateaued with his opposition. If Tank’s opposition stays being only the Mario Barrios (okay fighter) of the world, and best we get is Leo Santa Cruz type fighters (good fighter), and we don’t see him vs elites, then I want nothing to do with rooting for him.

From 26 to 30 years old, we will see what Tank is really made of and he has to show that against the elites of 135-140. Pedraza, Santa Cruz, Barrios, Walsh, Gamboa…decent names to have but damn he’s 26 man. I guess us Floyd fans are spoiled by Floyd’s rapid rise. He became the lineal/WBC champion at 130 at 21 years old when he fought Genaro Hernandez in a fight that had even odds. Fought #5 P4P/#1 ranked 130 fighter Diego Corrales at 24 years old, who was favored to beat Floyd. Fought the #1 ranked Lightweight Jose Luis Castillo at 25 for the 135 Ring/WBC championships.

Tank is 26 and does not have that Hernandez fight, or Corrales fight, or Castillo fight. Just wondering if he will ever have those fights in his 20s at all. These fighters nowadays want the money and fame but not “the resume”.

Really not sure what to think on it - I don't like that Floyd was interrupting the trainers....but he definitely got something extra out of Tank. He was yelling "be great" during the 11th and Tank stepped it up...not sure about anyone else, but that was exciting to me. Listen to his coaches yes, but sometimes the great fighters will be speaking a language only they understand

We will see who wins providing they ever fight. I'm picking Tank personally because I'd like to think I pay attention to fighters and certain traits they have and feel like Tank would win. Just my opinion and obviously you have yours as well.

Floyd did right by his fighter and it certainly lit a fire in Tank. That said, agree with the folks here pointing out that other promoters wouldn't be allowed to do what he did. Be a trainer in the corner or a promoter in the crowd, or alternate the two, but you shouldn't be able to walk up to the ring as he did. He took what was given to him, so I can't knock it, but it's not cool in my opinion

Good for Floyd. Too many corners don’t communicate that information. It’s to claim plausible denial-ability after the fight to justify why their fighter doesn’t not step it up. “We didn’t think we were down…”

Yea, I noticed that about Paulie as well. Paulie would be commenting on the fight sounding so knowledgeable and eloquent yet he'd be scoring a different fight than he was watching.
