If he came back and fought any legit WW he wouldn't be given the **** he is for cherry picking a lightweight, no matter how good he is it was a ***** move. For years people have been complaining about Floyd ducking the real WW's, and this move was icing on the cake. Two year lay off? Sure have a tune up match, but make it with a WW, not force a lightweight to fight at WW.
I'm sick of Floyd getting the double standard (Pac & Cotto fans GET IN HERE)

The hate for this man on thus board is mind blowing... Floyd gets **** for fighting the #2 p4p fighter after a two year lay-off... AFTER A TWO YEAR LAYOFF... Marquez is a brilliant dangerous fighter and this is one hell of a fight to be taking after such a long time out of the ring yet people yell "fraud"... Yet when Cotto fought Alfonzo Gomez or Michael Jennings earlier this year it was a-okay... If Floyd came back and fought Michael Jennings on PPV like Cotto did he'd be crucified... Cotto gets no critisizm for fighting Pacquiao when Cotto is bigger then Floyd and Pac is smaller then Marquez? It didn't matter who Floyd choose to fight in his comeback people will still ***** about it... If he choose Cotto people will say, "oh now he wants to fight Cotto cuz he's damaged goods what a ***** Floyd is".... If he choose Pac then they'd say, "he's scared to fight a true welterweight"... And if he fought Shane then, "he's scared to fight Pacquiao."..... Everyone on this board is FULL OF ****
2. Marquez adds more weight than the weight PBF looses
3. fight is at 144 lbs
4. pbf has balls to face marquez while pac has balls facing cotto;
5. marquez last fight was below 140 lbs , pac last fight has reached 140 lbs
6. pac > marquez ; cotto to pbf, i dont know but i know pbf dance more graceful than cotto and both are on WW
7. WW againts LW (pbf vs marquez) [ > , = , < ] WW againts LWW (cotto vs pac). choose which is greater or equal or lesser
i hope this makes it logical ... hopefully ..
and lastly, you can have a big rounds of tissue paper, for your tears ... peace !Comment

cmon. I agree with you the term fraud should not be thrown around on this fight BUT it goes both ways. On one hand you cannot possibly claim this to be an even match up when you simply do not know how JMM will handle being above 140 with no tune up to test this and no prior history of being larger than 140
Yet when Cotto fought Alfonzo Gomez or Michael Jennings earlier this year it was a-okay...
Cotto fought Gomez with the understanding that should he win a big summer match up with Margarito awaited. Most people here expected Cotto to wipeout Gomez and he did which made the fight a-ok as you put because it went as planned and it didn't jeopardize a much bigger fight down the road.
the Jennings fight was ok to me for several reasons
1. it was Cotto's first fight back from a devastating defeat NOT a retirement. That can weigh on a fighter so coming back against a guy of his level was okay for me
2. it was an independant PPV meaning that HBO or Showtime wasn't trying to shill this to us as if it were a big deal. It wasn't. He fought a guy who was no threat to him to get some of his confidence back and I am fine with that
3. Cotto fought Clottey immediately after. A top welterweight for years, Clottey is no slouch to have on your dockett
If Floyd came back and fought Michael Jennings on PPV like Cotto did he'd be crucified...
1. it was a full fledged welterweight
2. both are pretty good fighters
Cotto gets no critisizm for fighting Pacquiao when Cotto is bigger then Floyd and Pac is smaller then Marquez?
lets put it this way
Manny seems to fit 140 his frame looks like it always does just a bit mroe fileld
JMM we have no clue and from the pics he looks like he might have bulked up too much.
It didn't matter who Floyd choose to fight in his comeback people will still ***** about it...

um I know you jock Mayweather hard but didn't Manny take the same kind of **** for making Cotto accept all the stipulations thrown his way? see its part of being the top dog you as a fan of his should relish in that rather than cry about it
I mean **** Mayweather himself dont give a fuck why should you?

Are you implying that the ONLY person available to fight was a lightweight?!? So in WW or JWW there was not one single person that was waiting for a fight? What about Mosely? he's been begging for a fight for a long ass time.Comment

Nobody would be complaining if he came back to fight Shane, Pac, or Cotto... so throw that out the window.
The difference between Pac and Marquez... is Pac has PROVEN he can fight above 135lbs... by blowing out Oscar at 147 and blowing out Hatton at 140... Marquez has NOT proven anything above 135, and has never fought ABOVE 135.
People forget that Marquez was ALMOST stopped by Diaz at 135... a fighter that Paulie completely outclassed.Comment
