What does that have to do with Marquez not being proven above 135.. and almost being stopped by Diaz before he knocked him out? Diaz... a fighter who was outclassed by Paulie. This is who Floyd wants to bring up TWO weight classes to fight.

Pac has PROVEN himself above 135 by starching Oscar into retirement at 147 and practically ending Hattons elite career at 140.

Yet when Cotto fought Alfonzo Gomez or Michael Jennings earlier this year it was a-okay... If Floyd came back and fought Michael Jennings on PPV like Cotto did he'd be crucified... Other than his quasi bigoted remarks, I still like him. I think Cotto is the MAN, but I like Mayweather too. He is arrogant, brash, a little dirty, mean spirited in the ring and talks a METRIC TONNE of trash...but he can back it up (so far). THAT'S what I like about him. He is the antithesis of what I typically like in a fighter. I like him because he is intelligent, he's a good father (or appears to be) and because he is a very gracious winner.

He DOES think too much of himself, and one day he could and likely will fall. That day will be the day of reckoning for me, when I decide how much I like Floyd. If he is gracious and does not detract from the other fighter's performance (providing there is no overt cheating) and does not ***** and moan the way hopkins has in his losses, then I will have undying respect for the man.

Oh, he's also, from what I have seen, fan friendly. Some fighters get high on themselves in a way that makes them unapproachable. Mayweather does not seem to be like that. No sports celebrity should EVER be like that. Same as cops have a job to do but should not be too condescending considering they elected that profession to protect and serve (and for the pension) they are also paid by the people they serve, the same goes for sports celebrities. They are paid by the fans that support them, and they should never ever forget that. Those that do deserve to fall and be forgotten.

Floyd on 24/7 was giving out food (probably as much a publicity stunt as a genuine show of support to the public) and did so kindly and took his time to do it. I am not putting him on the level of Manny Pacquiao who gives away millions, but he does give something back. They don't have to, but it's especially nice to see when they (sports people) do.

I admit, I was a little purturbed by his mma comments, but he could also be right. I am your garden variety 'white' person. I have moved past those comments because Floyd really is charismatic and, I believe, a genuinely decent (perhaps not good and definitely not saintly) person.

There is this too: he is young. He's living a lifestyle at 32 that most people don't even know ever. He has a lot of maturity in his handling of certain situations that people tend to overlook. Much of what he does is show. And, in honesty, I find it highly entertaining. I am barely 'middle class' and when he went 'but guess what...my ****'s paid for. Is yours?', I laughed. I found that just classic.

this post made no sense but I will try and pick it apart none the less

          1. not really. See what you fail to add into the equation is the aspect that Floyd really calls himself the best alltime. Ok fine. So with that in mind he does fall under scrutiny that most fighters do not have. I mean Cotto does proclaim himself to be the best ever or even the p4p best like Floyd does.

          2. to be honest most KNOWLEDGABLE boxing fans want to see Mayweather against a true welterweight moreso than him fighting a lightweight with an UNKNOWN track record above 135.

          3. we don't know who Mayweather will fight next at all. However we did know that should Cotto beat Gomez he would indeed fight Margarito because a) it was a dual headlining card with Margarito rematching Cintron b) Bob already had a date and venue in mind.

I like how you skipped the rest of my reply
