Don't know for sure if Ellerbe is a real phague (even do he does look like one), but you're assessment is pretty spot on. Then again, it's the Mayweather way.

Add Lomachenko to that list, who is giving up size to every fighter he faces at 135. A natural 130 pounder at most. Let’s see Loma vs Davis!

The best men fought the best & that is why we loved them. There are so many talented guys at 135 & 147 & they keep being held back & from a fight-fan's view point it is annoying, but from the fighter's view it must be devastating. Your career won't go on forever, probably it'll be finished when you are 35, you're going to have a long time retired & a longer time dead. Why are the promoters refusing to make the fights that matter?
Blame Floyd Mayweather for this mess. Canelo looks to be following the same blueprint but I hope not.

Davis already fought at 135 and is facing b-level Barrios….Ellerbe talking like this is one of the greatest feats in boxing history.

You are most certainly right with what you wrote pre fight and I agree with why you wrote what you did.

But now we are post fight, did anything surprise you in this fight? Would you say barrios over performed or tank under performed?

I myself have to give mario a whole lotta credit. He used range well for portions of the fight and showed us a couple new things. We could never doubt his toughness. Just wondered what you thought, I know you was huge skeptic of this fight.

It delivered though didn’t it sir?

No, I don't buy that. I remember Floyd taking on the best possible opponents at 130. He did not take one easy fight. Then he stepped up to 135 & went straight to Castillo, who was one bad MoFo, & after getting a very controversial decision (I had JLC by a round), gave him a rematch & soundly beat him. Look at Joe Calzaghe, getting a gift against Robin Reid then saying 'I don't do rematches' & running from Glengoffe Johnson like a hare from a fox. People constantly denigrate Floyd for hand-picking opponents & it just is NOT TRUE. I don't know why this myth has grown up but it is a myth.

People just didnt like Floyd, so they nitpick everything

TBE. Beat the best in his era, including PacMan.

yea…went longer than I thought. Give Barrios credit..he tried to use his size advantages…but does have average power and could not hurt Davis. Davis and his team knew this before the fight and that along with his Hispanic last name is why he got the fight.

Deffo couldn’t hurt tank, was the odd time Davis moved back but he never looked hurt. Totally agree with you.
