Comments Thread For: Promoter: Question Isn't Will Pacquiao-Spence Sell Out, But How Quickly

Manny Pacquiao enters as the betting underdog for his next fight, though the smart money is on his return to Las Vegas producing a box-office hit. The record-setting eight-division champion is set for his first fight in more than two years as he faces unified WBC/IBF welterweight titlist Errol Spence (27-0, 21KOs). As previously reported by BoxingScene.com, their August 21 Fox Sports Pay-Per-View headliner will air live from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Select tickets will be made available for presale on Thursday before being released to the general public Friday.

PBC is not playing games in 2021!!!

Danny Roman vs Ra’eese Aleem in talks for September 11th Fulton-Figueroa co-feature

Steve Kim reports that while nothing’s “finalized,” PBC on Showtime’s September 11th super bantamweight unification match between Stephen Fulton and Brandon Figueroa has an excellent co-feature brewing, as former unified champ Danny Roman is in talks to face surging contender Ra’eese Aleem.

Roman (29-3-1, 10 KO) took the WBA belt from Shun Kubo in 2017 and defended it four times, out-warring TJ Doheny to add the IBF strap to his collection in the process. He came up just short against mandatory challenger Murodjon Akhmadaliev in January 2020, but has since turned aside strong efforts from Juan Carlos Payano and Ricardo Espinoza.

Despite only graduating from eight-rounders early last year, the 31-year-old Aleem established himself as a contender to watch with seven consecutive finishes, including a surprisingly one-sided thrashing of fellow unbeaten Vic Pasillas in January.

Between these two fights and Murodjon Akhmadaliev vs. Ronny RIos, there’s a lot to love about the 122-pound division right now. Let’s hope this one gets over the finish line.

Be careful giving PBC props, that triggers the water head babies. And you’re right, pbc is killing it. All the big fights this year are PBC. They are the standard bearer for AMERICAN Boxing.

Spence really needs a big performance to become a genuine headliner. He’s been given Mikey and now Manny. The house will be full and this fight should generate close to 1 mil ppv sales. He will also have the crowd against him ( my guess 65-75% of the crowd will be pro manny).

Has a real chance to be his Floyd/fishnets moment to elevate his career.

I know, but damn! If they have those 2 fights on the same card...OR FREE? How can you hate on that?

A wonderful fight indeed, although am more excited by the physical collision to be Fury-Wilder 3.

I'm gonna guess at 1 million plus PPV buys on this one. More if people honestly believe Spence has a chance to send Pac into retirement. It may be the last chance to see a legend in the ring.

This is one of those fights who will have the feeling of a big fight, I do think this will be Pacquiao last fight so I won't miss it.

Yeah he won’t be in Texas anymore, Vegas and California is manny country. I personally prefer the destructive Spence over the boxer Spence so I hope he tries to stop manny
