Is it possible that Arum is actually protecting Crawford?

    No it’s not “possible”.

Its a damn pitiful fact of life and it’s been a fact for years and will probably continue to be a fact.

Dud seems content to forever be an underachiever.

I don’t think he is protecting Crawford. He just overpaid him to keep him away from PBC because Bob didn’t want pbc to have all the best guys in one of the premier divisions in boxing.

Crawford would be formidable for all the top ww’s. PBC would be able to control the division.

He did the same with Fury at hwt.

This ^. Least that's my reading. This is all about the business rivalry and Bob not wanting PBC to get a complete lock on the marquee division. It ain't about protecting Bud as an individual but about protecting TR as a business. Losing Bud to PBC would shift the balance of power in US boxing - or at least the perception of it... enough that Bob considers it worthwhile paying a few extra $ mils to stop it happening. Ain't pretty and it ain't good for the fans or the sport, but that's business I guess.

Absolutely. I also completely understand why Crawford took the deal- because you don’t feed your family and pay for your kids education through boxingscene poster respect.

I think Crawford has some regret given he can’t get a big fight and he can’t get prime dates. But hey dude you took the money knowing Bob was just looking out for himself.

So when his contract is up, Davis has to sign with Top Rank or he’s ducking.

            Got it.

When Davis signed with Mayweather/PBC, this was not the case.
