Little guys with power always get overrated quickly until they meet Rigo, Walters and Barrera. The only outlier has been Manny, who’s an ATG.

Pump the breaks before you start looking silly when it blows up in your face.

And I’m one of the old time Inoue fans on here. My boxers are AJ, Teofimo, Crawford, Beterbiev and Inoue.

Neither are ATGs based on the hype that surrounded them. Broner is just useless due to laziness and his antics. And he belongs in the same bracket as the other two.

But the hype on this forum is on another level. And it’s the same they hyped Loma until Teofimo beat him, lol.

I was probably the only one who said Teofimo will beat Loma on this forum.

Donaire wasn’t over hyped. He was the real deal. His speed and power just didn’t carry up well.

His more puncher than boxer style also didn’t help when that power and speed didn’t carry up either.

But I do wonder about Naoya. I talked with my friend about it. I really wouldn’t be surprised if he fought Rigondeaux or moved up and took his first L.

I really do wonder about the level of opponent he fights. It’s out of his control and he did win that tournament, so all props to him but other than an old Donaire, was there anyone roughly his equal talent wise that he has fought?

If Donaire was years younger, how would that fight have gone, right? The Donaire that was taking scalps of Vic and Montiel. I’m sure it’d have been different.

            I like Naoya too btw.

Inoue is a hype job. His punches are wide with no set up behind them. If he fights a good counter puncher, he will get destroyed. The fact that he is in the pound for pound list ranked higher than other proven fighters like spence, is laughable.

absolutely agree. inoue is basically a smaller less durable version of donaire.once inoues power stops becoming a factor like donaire's did at 122 and 126 then he will struggle badly. and his face is brittle so he will have a lot of trouble when he fights the big punchers who won't be fazed by his power.

I agree. I think hypes are understandable if he beat a champion or someone legit.

But Inoue literally beat a #35 boxrec bum yesterday and they called him a god lmfao

how is it any different from beating up bums in the streets? would bumbeaters in the streets be called demi-gods?

Hazegawa would be a more fitting comparison. Almost identical hype…until he met Montiel lol. Inoue is a solid fighter but not the god some anoint him to be, and I have no doubt that his time will come, like it did for hazegawa.
