Charlo fortunate he has that jab, otherwise this guy may have turned up the heat more after he expended all that energy in round 7 I think it was.

To me his feet looked a little happy early on, didn't seem like had them under him like usual, he's usually very sturdy on his feet and if he doesnt really have that he can be very clunky....he warmed into it though..... not the best accuracy tonight outside of his jab. He had the guy cornered for like 1:30 and struggled to land, a little surprised to see that.

He got tired and touched up but I liked how he stabilized it with his jab, it's the second fight where he has had to do that late in the fight. I felt like he allllmost cracked against SD after taking many stabbing body shots but he was able to get some control of it and close it out. IDK who is sidestepping who but after seeing the last 2 fights IDK if he can go to war with GGG. unless GG does not go to the body for some reason of course

Clear as day victory for Mall but he said out his own mouth he couldn’t afford to look bad in this fight and he did just that. Montiel is C level at best and I dare anyone to say Canelo wouldn’t have stopped him in at most 6 rounds. Mall threw a career high amount of punches and couldn’t get this dude with D- level defense outta there, not even a knock down

IMO Mall might be too big for 160. He slightly missed weight and he was breathing mighty heavily around the halfway point of the fight.

if he jumps to 168 I expect him to avoid Benavides at all costs

No shame in not being able to beat the best fighter, which is Canelo right now, just like it wasn't when no one couldn't defeat Floyd.

I think your assessment of the fight is a lil unfair. Just because Montiel is not a household name, doesn't mean he's not a good fighter. He actually fought well tonight, yet Jermall still won every round.

Can you look at that performance and say he looked crisp, dialled in, and impressive? Let’s also not forget that man had 4 losses. Mall is showing a pattern of subpar performances lately and I believe he’s weight draining himself and that’s killing his legs, damaging his stamina, throwing his coordination off, and reducing his punch resistance.

Was anyone else screaming at their tv for Montiel to go to the body? Charlo was punching himself out I thought. If he had any sustained body attack, he could've made that very interesting.

Charlotte looked hurt to the body in the sixth but Monticello was taking a beating for the first 3 quarters of the round. There were other times it looked like Charlotte was really bother by body shots.
