Spinks was no pushover. If any of you actually watched a lot of previous fights, you would see that he was the real deal.

It wasn't even Spinks first fight at HW. He was 4-0 in the division

What makes it even more impressive was that Spinks was undefeated and Tyson ran through him like a hot knife through butter. He literally had NO answer.

Just makes no sense that people refuse to give him much credit for this win.

Not sure where you get that from, pretty much everybody in 88 acknowledged Tyson as wrecking machine who was untouchable in the HW division at that time. Nobody really thought he could be beaten.

He got a plenty of credit for what he did up to the Spinks fight. Very little for anything after that though.

He gets enough credit. Fact is Spinks wasn't an HW. If Beterbiev went to HW beat a few old guys and then lost to Joshua/Fury, would they get any credit?

Spinks wasn't a heavyweight but beat an undefeated Larry Holmes 2x and TKO'd a 6'6 Gerry Cooney. Not saying Spinks was a true ATG heavy but he's not just an old guy, and the way Mike beat him was nothing short of incredible. The lineal heavyweight champ getting KO'd in less than 2 minutes. Wow.

Personally, I think it’s one of his better wins and possibly his best win. However I don’t consider it a great win because Spinks was essentially cashing his name and lineal title out IMO. Devastatingly great performance but not a truly great win IMO.

He absolutely gets credit for it.

I mean, if he didn't get credit for this fight, what other win in his career would make him worth talking about in ATG kind of discussions?

Holmes was done, Spinks was a LH and was scared to death of Tyson, go through history and see how many tried the HW division and how many were stopped, Holyfield is about the only one to really pull it off.

                  Get's plenty credit

He's probably the most over hyped fighter of all time. And I'm not saying that in the sense he doesn't deserve some great credit here and there, but he's generally extremely overrated and praised as the best ever by many. (Albeit the general public I know)
