Comments Thread For: Joshua vs. Usyk Will Have a Rematch Clause, Says Hearn

Eddie Hearn, promoter for IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, has confirmed that there will be a rematch clause in the upcoming fight with Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk is the WBO's mandatory challenger - and in many situations there are no rematch clauses in mandatory fights.

I have a bad feeling about this. Last time Joshua didn’t get the fight he wanted and had to face another opponent he didn’t want too he got wrecked.

I have a feeling Joshua might lose and fury is going to knocked out cold in devastating fashion and ruin the super undisputed fight.

I really don’t see a path to victory for Usyk other than maybe a decision, but I don’t he will get close enough to score points. He will want to stay out of harms way. This will be just like Aj/ Parker fight.

And Usyk was forced to sign it with a gunpoint. All true!

He was forced to sign nothing. He could have chosen to go to purse bid. Rematch clauses are standard and have been for a long time. The champ gives them more money for a rematch clause. Anything can happen in a fight, if the challenger is the better fighter he will beat the champ in the rematch too.

Lame fight. Usyk has looked sub par with limited power at heavyweight.
it’s like they are force feeding fights with these mandatories. Because based on usyks heavyweight resume, he certainly didn’t earn this fckn fight

We all know that WAR Chisora smoked Usyk. He should be back on that PPV fighting Joshua, and the fact that WAR was robbed again against the New Zealand runner, was sad to see for the ATG. But as Bernard Hopkins once said, "the fans are the judges."

I’m just glad Joshua and Hearn didn’t avoid Usyk and go elsewhere. So if Joshua goes in there and destroys Usyk, I myself will heap praise on him, I say it over and over, but I know Usyk is better then his two showings at HW. I believe he will be on it for AJ, people need to understand, yes Usyk is smaller with not as much power, but it really doesn’t take much to stun Joshua, so he’s well within a shout of winning. Joshua hasn’t faced someone with excellent footwork and a high IQ. If Joshua thinks his “new style” of fighting he brung to Ruiz II and Pulev is going to work in this fight, he’s in for a shock.

I’m going to say, either Usyk will win a 12 round decision, or Joshua loses every round and scores a come from behind KO.

Or Eddie pays the judges and they rob Oleksandr, which to be fair, happens quite a lot on U.K. soil doesn’t it :-/

last time Joshua faced anyone who uses a bit of movement was the Wlad fight, and well we all know how that went, BUT Wlad changed his style for that, he wasn’t a natural box and mover. He’s a jab and grab guy.

excited for this fight, happy they’re was no ducking!

Amazing how the same people had no issue with Mayweather having re match clauses when he was the top dog (bar the manny fight) are criticising Joshua for doing it

the ******ity and bias is unreal
