Comments Thread For: Arum: Gervonta Davis Too Small For 140; Don't Think Josh Taylor Would Have Any Trouble

Bob Arum envisions Gervonta Davis becoming "a really good fighter." The 89-year-old promoter just doesn't think Davis belongs in the 140-pound division. Baltimore's Davis will make his debut at the junior welterweight limit June 26, when he'll battle WBA world super lightweight champion Mario Barrios at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Maybe he could do well at light welterweight, but not welterweight. He's smaller than Floyd. Fight the other guys, Lopez and Haney.

#1, we shall see. #2, if tank wins and impressively and arum and Taylor still spew this than it’s a duck.

That remains to be seen. He may do very well.

He’s no Mike Tyson, when Tank gets in there with a LIVE DOG with a real jab. He’s fooked.

I'll have to see how he Carrie's his power at 140 but I could see him being a handful for anybody at the weight providing he does carry power up. A Taylor vs Tank fight would be fun to see IMO

Yeah, definitely if he fights a live dog like Taylor he would be F'ed, hence why he wouldn't. Am sure Taylor is still waiting for that call which Tank promised to make to Haymon to make that fight...it's only been a year or so now .

Agree with Arum, I couldn't see him posing much of a threat to Taylor.

Tank will be able to move between 135 and 140 for next part of his career and do very well. He may wait out Taylor. Then go for the super belt. But he’s going to stick around for Ryan Garcia at one of those divisions. That’s why he’s snatching meaningless trinkets. So that when they fight, it’ll be a “world title” fight. It’s just a way to beef up their eventual PPV showdown.

He may be small but he is fast and explosive as Hell though! Hopefully, he is just coming up to capture a title and not to campaign at that weight because as many has said already said; 140 may be too big of a jump for him. Hopefully, he comes back down to 130 again.
