How was Mike Tyson so matured at 20-21 years old compared to 99% of the boxers you see at the same age?

    He was focused and motivated. He pushed himself all the time. Cus d amato also instilled the belief in himself

      yeah its pretty amazing, he was a big angry lump of a young guy who was well prepared for destruction at an early age, now guys play the long game, dip each toe into the water before jumping in or wait for divisions to clear out before coming on

        Tyson matured fast and age'd fast. But I wonder if Berwick could ve done better in rematch or even done better in first fight if he didn't try be all macho?

          He was just well-matched against poor opposition. When Hughie Fury came on the scene at 18, at that age, he'd have beaten all of Tyson's opponents (his wins) in a similar fashion.

            Matured early. Faded quickly.

            Happens with plenty of sportsmen. Wayne Rooney was a Premier League player at 16 and starting in a major international tournament at 18.

              He didn’t have a barely had a chance to be a child. He ran into the the right role model at a very trying age, still struggled to blend at first, then realized he found his calling, had faith in his skills bc Cuz was like a father figure/trainer.
