Povetkin For The Interim Title? Kessler Training Tough

Russian heavyweight, Alexander Povetkin, IBF mandatory challenger for a long time, vs TBA for the IBF's interim title? Well, donīt rule it out. With champ Wladimir Klitschko out until 2010 when he will first will fight with WBO mandatory challenger Eddie Chambers, who was clearly beaten by Povetkin, there is as good case for Povetkin getting an interim shot. Povetkin just needs to stay busy but he doesn't need soft touches like Sykes or Estrada now.

Povetkin is STRONG AS AN OX. He will hopefully fight an American and brutally KO him in Dominant Fashion.

How about he fight Kevin Johnson or Travis Walker? Those would be interesting fights. I would pick the Kingpin to beat Povetkin. The Walker fight would be a toss-up.

I guess Povetkin fighting for the interim title is better than him fighting a tuneup fight because he'll have to face someone who is ranked high by the IBF instead of a handpicked opponent. Here's the current rankings from the IBF:

            1. Alexander Povetkin
            2. NOT RATED
            3. Eddie Chambers
            4. Oleg Maskaev
            5. Alexander Dimitrenko
            6. Samuel Peter
            7. Ruslan Chagaev
            8. Denis Boytsov
            9. James Toney
            10. Hasim Rahman
            11. Ray Austin
            12. Kevin Johnson
            13. Kali Meehan
            14. Shane Cameron
            15. Michael Grant

Too early to tell with Johnson, but Walker is definitely not on Povetkin's level.

I said this a week ago(about the interim title & wlads injury).I'd say maskaev or toney or Rahman are the likely opponents.they are name opponents but old & beatable.I'd say maskaev being the likely opponent if it's in Russia but teddy wants him to train in jersey so Rahman or toney are also possibilities if the fights in the states.

F.uck Hasim Rahman, the guy's a quitter; he quit against Klitschko and Toney last year. I'd like to see James Toney get the nod...

It would be Toney's last chance at HW glory.
