I think fighters like Floyd and Jones did choose carefully. But there has to be some perspective on this strategy. For example, for the whole fight negotiations with Fury, there was this rabid discussion of promoters. Arum never would have allowed Manny a fight with Floyd if it had a negative impact on money in his pocket down the line. For a Floyd fight to have made Satanic Bob sense there would have had to have a rematch clause. Satanic bob knew Manny could always fight opponents as long as it was looked at as a lead up to this big fight.
When will people learn that promoters destroy boxing. The Paul brothers are literally two morons who are nver-the-less en route to out earn even Floyd, down the line! And Floyd only made money when he left Satanic Bob. King, who was worse than Arum viewed boxers as a disposable commodity. Satanic Bob wants to milk them slowly... So all this hoophula about what a nice lad Eddie is... and people in the same breath cannot see that Floyd had his reasons why he did not want to work with Satanic Bob...
and also yes...to your point...bob was looking to make money...make inhouse fights with manny and milk that as long as he could...that was prob the most important reason it took so long
trust me...i agree with you about arum....arum loves the subservient "yes" men...the obedient ones who do what he says and takes what he wants to give them.......ill tell you what irked bob about floyd leaving the most...it wasnt him leaving...in fact when floyd bought out it was amicable...bob said good things and said "he just wants the moon" alluding to floyd demanding more than arum thought he could reasonably give him.....and in the same breath bob said "i think we will be working together again".....bob thought floyd was going to use top rank to promote his fights the same way he ended up using golden boy...and when floyd used them and was doing big things he got pissy and started all the "ducking margarito" and all the other stuff......
but what really made floyd give up and not want to deal with bob was all the BS...the "needle/blood testing" stuff....bob was like "who is he to make this demand".....the outdoor arena stuff...the "i dont even know if he has a license in LV" BS....the fake countdown clock on the TR website for floyd to accept and offer that didnt exist and was never made...the "he has cuts that need to heal" BS.......after awhile floyd was like "this guy aint serious im moving on"......

yes he fought pac after jmm ko him and with only one healthy arm but still majority of people outside of vegas think pac won the fight. That's how floyd pick his opponent.
