I understand they have to cover the sport and therefore this fight.

I don’t like seeing articles that present the idea that Paul could somehow hit Mayweather and hurt him.

Paul will not hit Mayweather with a power punch. If he somehow does, he will not hurt Mayweather.

Presenting that idea as a possibility is absolute nonsense.

Not only do they present this possibility, they give evidence as to why it can happen.

They say that Mayweather is old and looks slower than he used to look. They say Paul is heavier than Mayweather.

No objective journalist would do this. Because the idea that a size advantage for Paul means anything in this fight is insane. The idea that Mayweather’s age could hurt him in this fight is insane. Paul isn’t a professional boxer and Mayweather isn’t 80 years old.

But instead of objective journalists, we’re getting BS promoter talk.

Which is why I think everyone has lost their credibility.

pbc just put on a great card this past weekend. 217k viewers. Did you support it? Do you think a lot of posters did?

also, like it or not, casual fans and the demographic the advertisers want, 18-35, seem to be into this.

I understand your point but instead of being mad at the boxing media, be mad at the “boxing” fans that don’t support the sport.

30 pounds is not big in a boxing match between a professional boxer, who was a four division lineal champion, and a professional content creator.

If he isn't weight drained (haven't paid attention to it) and if he can land (big if) then yeah he has a shot. 30+ pounds is big in a fight.

Again I get your point but this thing is getting major media coverage. It’s an event- how I have no idea- but it is.

I think everyone wants this to do well with the hopes it raises the profile of boxing. I don’t know that it will but I get that.

The real problem is this fight will likely sell more than any single fight in boxing- other than maybe Floyd/canelo 2, Floyd/manny 2, or Fury/wilder winner v AJ.

I can only hope Floyd plans a real comeback against the manny/Spence winner.

An extremely successful pro boxer - who is now 44 years old and hasn't fought professionally in 4 years. And a pro content creator - who is a good athlete and has some solid experience as a boxer. If we are going to frame the narrative, let's at least go all the way.
