Boxing journalism has lost all credibility with the Mayweather-Paul coverage

Every story I read points out that Mayweather looks like a senior citizen, is way slower now than he used to be and Paul’s size advantage.

Hey idiots, try this the next time two actual boxers are in the ring. Then maybe I can actually swallow the bulls**t.

Paul can’t win. He couldn’t beat Spud Webb in basketball either, nor could he throw a football better than Dan Marino.

So don’t sell me the fight. You’re not the promotional company. You’re not the television channel banking on the PPV.

You’re supposed to write objectively and not fantasy story about how some 0-1 loser who lost to a YouTube rapper presents a danger to Mayweather.

F**k off boxing journalism, f**k off.

Why do you even want to swallow the BS? It’s a circus act freak show bag of nonsense. It’s not the sport you love dude it’s a joke. I wouldn’t pay any attention to anything the media has to say regarding this.

What’s bothering me is that the voices of our sport are selling this fight like it’s a competitive contest.

It upsets me more than the fight itself.

Yeah I suppose you have a point. The media are likening it to the real thing and talking about it like it’s the real thing but it really is not the real thing. Is also prefer it if the Boxing media just said "what you asking me for this is a joke, ask snoop dogg or somebody".

Maybe that is because they are happy boxing is getting some attention. What else should they cover?

pbc just put on a great card this past weekend. 217k viewers. Did you support it? Do you think a lot of posters did?

also, like it or not, casual fans and the demographic the advertisers want, 18-35, seem to be into this.

I understand your point but instead of being mad at the boxing media, be mad at the “boxing” fans that don’t support the sport.

I've seen the other side too though. The Floyd and youtubers are ruining our sport stuff. Truthfully boxing journalists are typically a bunch of lames anyway.

“Boxing journalism” is not much more than glorified bloggers now. Today, everyone thinks they are a journalist or boxing authority. Look at the losers on YouTube with channels that have tens of thousands of subscribers. Preaching to the choir.

I actually think Logan, if not weight drained, has a better chance than some guys who faced Floyd. Berto for example = 0 chance. At least Logan has like 30 pounds on him and a big youth edge. If he isn't weight drained (haven't paid attention to it) and if he can land (big if) then yeah he has a shot. 30+ pounds is big in a fight.

Boxing media never had any credibility, they don't even try to be honest.

Boxing articles are not usually very educational and when they are it's just history. Y'all know I love me some history, but, explaining the science of boxing, the interworkings of the bodies, promotional stables, **** like that. Few, far between, and vague.

Just an endless cycle of opinion pieces from douche bags just like us except with creative writing degrees, clear paid promotion, and when they do an informatical article about an upcoming fight, you know, with date, time, how to watch, the full card, stuff like that, instead of writing that in any form of quick format they always write in a narrative so you have to read the author's opinions of the fights on the card just to know the fights on the card. Which is kind of self aware. They know I don't want to read their **** because I don't actually think they're talented writers so they force me to read their **** by putting basic info they know I do want in their ****ty opinion pieces.

escudo is a writer here, not a staff writer, I just mean he's an author who is signed up. He and I don't always agree about things, but, even when I don't agree with what the dude is saying I can't take away his ability to write. It's not about agree or disagree, they're just hacks. Most of them don't even want to be a boxing writer. The fit in where they could get in and that's it. Failed down to it.
