If the answer is Jermall Charlo then Devin Haney is the WBC champ at 135. I hate the fact that anybody is gifted a belt without actually fighting for it but it is what it is.

      very true.

That was a solid win, his best win and performance at 160 and it does sort of solidify the entitlement of being WBC champ but I see ppl who accepted Mall from day 1 not wanting to accept Haney.

do you see beating Linares as legitimising Haney?

ehhhh, legitimize him as champ? tough to say. His performance in the fight? Perhaps. His attitude after the fight? No. He's more fragile than I thought, Him and Ryan asking Linares and Luke if they hit hard/if they're good, etc. is weird as all hell to me, and Haney has spent the last 24 hours doing nothing but **** talking other boxers on social media. Not calling guys out to fight, just talking **** about them. The insecurity is unbecoming of a champion.

I have no issue with Devin getting clipped and hurt. Lots of guys get clipped and hurt, it should be a learning experience. My concern is the fact that it took him two rounds to recover from it, and then him saying he wasn't hurt and that Linares doesn't hit hard...

I did mention that night though, and still do believe that if he got clipped and hurt at the beginning, and then dominated after the fact, people likely wouldn't remember it.

Yeah his recovery or lack thereof and how he dealt with it should be pretty worrying for his team.

Haney wasn’t gifted the belt. The champ was too worried fighting him might cost him a payday so he vacated.

I like you Dunn but Haney was absolutely gifted that title.

You are right Loma didn’t want to fight him and vacated. But when a title is vacated the number 1 and number 2 guy are supposed to fight for it. If the number 2 isn’t available they go down the rankings. Haney was number 1 at the time but they dude he fought for the vacant title wasn’t even in the top 20 and as of today isn’t even top 30. So in effect they did gift Haney the vacated title and shortly thereafter was emailed the notice he was elevated to full champion status.

If Haney had integrity he wouldn’t have accepted the opponent he fought against for the title but dude wanted to be considered a champion and didn’t care that he was fighting a bum for the title.

But yes he was gifted the title.

I don't understand why the answer wouldn't be Jermall Charlo

I don’t agree but I do think your point is fair that he didn’t fight the number 2 guy.

It’s ok if we don’t agree. You and I agree on a lot of other stuff.

Yes Haney is the official champion because Loma vacated instead of fight him . But that dude Haney fought for the vacate title wasn’t not just number 2 or top 10 for that matter, shht he wasn’t even top 20. Plus at this moment he’s not even top 30. So in essence he was gifted that title.
