At some point this "no boxing background" needs to stop though, his first fight was 3 years ago now.

Wilder took up boxing in 2005, in 2007 he won national golden gloves and US championships, 2008 bronze at the Olympics.

Joshua started boxing in 2007 at 18, won the ABAs/GB Championships in 2010 and Olympic gold in 2012.

Not everyone is Vasyl Lomachenko with 400 amateur fights, but there are much more impressive trajectories than someone fighting retired non boxers 3+ years in.

Well in his defense he doesn't gotta have any trajectory as long as he is keeping enough interest to warrant his pay. Thats his only goal if we are being real here. This ain't like Wilder, AJ or Loma trying to become a draw in pro boxing once upon a time. This is a guy with a draw already despite being on tap to fight his 4th pro opponent with a 0-0 record. If you are selling tickets & getting a crowd still fighting 0-0 guys why would you move up? And if he starts selling less tickets than maybe he'll need to push up the competition. And honestly all things considered I think he has moved up, in a weird ass way admittedly, since he started. He beat a fellow YT dork in fight one. He beat a pro athlete in fight two. He beat a pro combat sports competitor with no hands in fight three. And now in fight four he's fighting a pro combat sports competitor with hands lol.

And one pet peeve I definitely got with the Jake criticism is folks ignoring there have been a sh^t ton of boxers who's fought poor to pitiful competition 4 fights into their career & at Jake's current age. Jake's trajectory in the pro game isn't unlike guys who've been doing this 10 years already in some cases who've just turned pro. So I don't really see a problem with Jake's trajectory. Folks are just mad, jealous or envious about him getting so much attention for boxing while guys with far more talent & many more accomplishments don't get as much attention. Its fooked up for those guys so I get it, but it is what it is. Don't hate the player hate the game I'd argue. And the game of boxing is about selling hype & this fooking kid is good at it like him or not.

Do you need to get sanctioned by a boxing commission to fight an exhibition?

I'd take a one-eyed Bisping over Jake Paul, actually. I think Jake Paul stops Woodley though, and I will be amused.

Just off the headline as i can't read this garbage.
Bisping has one eye left & he can barely see out of that.
Of course he turned it down for crying out load, this stories over a month old.

Yeah it is what it is, my specific point was he is 3 years into boxing, at the same time Wilder and Joshua were winning national competitions against proper competition and Jake Paul has yet to fight someone without "debut" next to their name.

So is he really doing pretty good for "no boxing background", so far everyone he has beaten has had the same or less boxing background? I'm not talking about the business side of it, Conor has shown someone without a boxing background can cash in, no shock there.

Jake ain't fighting exhibitions is the thing.

Jake vs T-Wood is a legit pro fight.

It ain't fair to measure him against guys who've been #1 in their division doe. I mean most legit life long boxers ain't do what those 3 guys did & were talking about guys who've devoted their life to boxing since before they've had hair on their balls who've "failed" in comparison to those 3.

I mean if you are winning or making money I'd argue you are doing pretty good. Jake's doing both.

Most boxers haven't done what those 2 have done, just like Jake Paul hasn't, he hasn't fought anyone with a previous boxing fight, let that sink in, he is 3 years into his career and hasn't fought someone with a single boxing bout.

Trolling and business side he's killing it, no argument there but I have no interesting in trolling, actual boxing side of things he really hasn't done ****, so I'll say it again, no he isn't doing pretty well for "No boxing background" when real fighters where national level champions at the same point.
