Comments Thread For: David Lemieux Plots To Make a Big Statement Against Zegarra in Mexico

Former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux has a lot to lose this Friday night, when he returns to the ring as part of Eye of the Tiger Management's card in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Lemieux does not hide it: he wants to make a big statement in his fight against Peruvian David Zegarra. But the 32-year-old Quebecer has, once again, no room for a lackluster performance.

Lemieux could have gotten some solid paydays. Golden Boy totally mismanaged him. It made no sense for him to fight GGG in his first defense. He could have KOed some people in Quebec a couple times before that fight.

Oscar put David in there against Golovkin in the hope he could get rid of him and save Canelo from having to get in there himself. It backfired. Oscar didn't care one bit about David and used him as nothing more than a pawn.

Totally correct and you're being charitable. Oscar didn't even think Lemieux could beat GGG so it wasn't even to get rid of GGG; it was just to buy time and try to get 1-2 more Canelo paydays first.

GB is a disgraceful promoter. I don't like Ryan Garcia much but they've wronged him.

Well...... It is likely to be a train wreck no matter how it ends. There is a strange appeal in watching the train derail so I guess it is worth the watch.

Lemieux had no business in the ring with GGG except for in deluded minds. Marco Antonio Rubio knocked David Lemieux out , Alcine ? beat him up. Saunders boxed his ears off. He is just a guy who can punch and it takes more than just being a big puncher to be be a Champion.
