This why boxers shouldn't listen to fans

I think Haney got caught up in the **** that people spew about his lack of power & inability too finish.

He's still a boy, he'll get his manpower soon but he's never going to be a big puncher. Like Floyd even Rigondeaux (don't get me wrong he can crack). I am not tuning in to see a brawl & them taking silly risks just to please fans who won't show any appreciation anyway.
I want to see the sweet science like I seen for the first 7-8 rounds, flawless crisp beautiful boxing.

The kid needs to accept he isn't blessed with power & stick to what he does best and box. Stop trying so hard too impress.

I thought he boxed beautifully he adjusted for no real reason other than to try put a statement on it and gave Linares every opportunity. He said he wasn't hurt, he clearly was and his legs wasn't under him for some time but I liked what I seen and his ability to tie up, buy some time just see out the next round. Smart but then it became a hideous clinch fest.
God that was ugly and boring and probably ended up hurting his stock despite ticking almost every box prior.
It went from being a masterclass to needless ******ity.
I think if he just stuck to what he was doing he'd have got more credit fans would have said ok well nobody has ever outboxed Linares like that, he made him look like Brandon Rios or something but then he gets carried away. Maybe its good he showed some vulnerability & they will now get in the ring with him.

Just box, keep winning, they'll tune in even if it is in hope you lose.

Credit to Linares, it was way wider than the scores suggested but he was in incredible shape.
Like WTF was those scorecards? I literally gave Linares 2 rounds, 3 max.

It shows immaturity IMO, and if his father was encouraging it he should be fired from the corner.

I didn’t see the fight but I’ve seen a few posters suggest the same thing.

Haney was trading with Linares and he got hit with shots he would never take. End of the 10th round he got wobbled and then he went into survival mode the rest of the fight. In the 12th round he legit dived for a clinch

He's a young fighter who fought dumb, even vets make that mistake. Lets not overanalyze things.

He got seriously hurt at the end of the 10th trading, which he never needed to do. Then spent the 11th and 12th buzzed and holding on. Totally unnecessary. Recovery time was a bit concerning. Better than AJ but not by a lot lol

not to mention Bill was talking over Davidson in the corner. If I was a trainer, that would not be a situation I’d allow myself to be in. Get the father the **** out or walk, because you’ll always be #2

EDIT - oh, and he ended up getting booed by his hometown crowd. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that lol

Over analyzing things is 100% what should be done. It’s how to avoid making the same ****** mistakes

a 135 brandon rios would've been a nightmare for haney!...you're as good as your last fight i guess and people forget how bad rios was at that weightclass, not including the abril fight ofcourse

Damn. Sounds like he was lucky to survive.
