Okay... before I write this next statement, I want everyone to know:

I picked Lubin to upset Charlo.. I was wrong. Like, less than a minute in the first round KO wrong on that one.

I picked Ortiz to beat Wilder in their second fight... Wrong.

I picked Wilder over Fury.... BOTH TIMES. Obviously, I was wrong.

I own all my bad predictions. Honest, I do.

I picked Donaire in this one. Honest. Told a couple of my buddies who like boxing but do not follow it like I do (they are more MMA guys) that Donaire was a class above, even at his age. As a Boxing Blind Squirel, I finally got my nut. I am very happy for Donaire who has been as underrated of a warrior as we have had in a while in this sport. I am more than a little happy for me as I have gotten very few upset predictions right.

I thought the fight would be competitive, but it was evident from early on that Oubaali was classes below Donaire, which got me checking on Oubaali's record to try understand why he got where he did - and the record says it all (in terms of opposition to date).

Not taking anything away from Donaire - got way too much respect for him for that - but Oubaali would have been beaten easily by any of Inoue/Casimero/Rigo, all of whom are at the right level to be competitive against each other and to give Donaire more resistance.

Not forgetting Donaire gave as good as he got vs much of the Inoue fight, he took hellacious damage at the end of that fight, and not sure he could go another 12 rounds with Inoue given he's another 2 years older too. Casimero/Rigo should be a better fight - Rigo's main defence was his feet, and age was already showing before now in terms of his ability to snap out of range and counter while the other guy is throwing - he'll need to land something meaningful to keep Casimero honest, and gut feel its more likely to be Casimero to land the controlling blows.

All depends how they have all taken care of themselves and trained during the Covid inactivity though. Its clear Donaire spent his time wisely - ever the consumate pro - and if Casimero has done the same I think he retires Rigo and we get back to what was the meaty match-up in the qweight class of Casimero and Inoue. Donaire v Rigo for old times would be tasty too.

If Casimero wins...i wonder if Donaire and Casimero are willing to fight each other. Donaire wants to be undisputed.... but i heard filipino boxers don't like facing each other especially in title fights.

Love that he wants an Inouye rematch, that crazy man. That'd be going out with a *radical* ****. Wouldn't blame him if he decided to retire as a champ, though.

That's the mentality before, because there was a time that there's a lack of top competition in the Philippines in a single division... But boxing scene in the Philippines has evolved... These 2 champs are top boxers in their division so if they want to (I heard they're willing to fight each other), it can happen...

On the flip side, I was watching footage of his mandatory last night, Michael Dasmarinas? I want to say this as nicely as possible....this guy does not look good. these ABC's need to start recognizing other champs in their rankings to avoid these mismatch mandatories.

Agreed. Dasmarinas is poor competition for him. I’d much rather have seen him go against Khalid Yafai or Reymart Gaballo.
