Just need to tighten up that Defense a bit more and use that reach advantage and pop that jab but yeah fun fighter stylistically
I can't remember the last time i saw someone have that much power with such short punches. He doesn't even look like he's putting much effort into them. But you could clearly see the damage they dish out.

Subriel Matias looks like he wont be denied in his quest for a championship title at 140 pounds.
The most pressing issue for him is to spend more time training on his defense.
He can't continue to take power punches to the head as he has in his most resent fights before they start taking their toll on him.
That just leads to losses in future fights, and unfulfilled potential/dreams/goals.
There is no reason for him to take punches that he could be slipping, blocking, or turning his head to minimize it's effect.
Other than that I'd like to see get Petros Ananyan back in the ring, I'm sure he'd knock him out in the rematch.
Petros hasn't fought in over a year, and 3 months since his controversial win against Subriel.
I think he's still recovering from their fight back in 2/28/2020, although he fought well I didn't see Petros winning that fight.
More likely his long layoff confirms that he was hurt in that fight more than we even realized, and he might not resume his boxing career.
Subriel Matias has explosive, damaging, and crippling power in both of his fists.

Josh Taylor is the undisputed #1 fighter at 140, that's not an opinion.

Matias is a fun fighter to watch, but right now he's got the same amount of fights as Taylor the records speak for themselves, so lets not be delusional, which in your case I understand isn't in your hands.

I would like to see Matias in there with a top 5ish guy to see how well he takes shots at that level, he can definitely ruin careers with his style. If you can't hurt that man you're in trouble. But right now, he is very unproven at the top level.

PBC is on fire @ 140! If only Shojahon Ergashev can return to Kronk's Gym! Add him and Brandun Lee to the mix, with Tank and Russell, and we can have fun for years!

Reckon he'll become the IBF mandatory but he'll be at the back of the queue. Catterall (WBO) then Zepeda (WBC) for Taylor before getting to the winner of Matias v Ponce/Ritson.

Matias is a big puncher but definitely a lot of holes in his game. Taylor, Prograis and Ramirez all have great chins, Taylor and Prograis especially - I see all 3 of them beating Matias.
