  • conor benn is a problem for the welterweight division

The kid is improving fast and looked nothing short of sensational in his last fightm blasting out an opponent who went rounds with spence and garcia and was meant to give Conor a firm test. Son of one of the greatest to lace them up, the dark destroyer Nigel Benn, Conor has inherited his legendary work ethic and is known for being the hardest worker in the gym. At 24 years old he seems ready to take the next step and in a division with a real lack of quality he could soon find himself with a world title shot. He is chasing a fight with Amir Khan however Amir is understandably not keen on this at his stage in his career. How should Conor be guided from here on?

Eh idk about him being a problem. He's shown he's got some skills & I think he can become the new top UK 147lb guy every 147lb UK guy wants to fight eventually, but I think 147 is so deep it'll be hard for him to break into the top 5 & his ceiling will probably be top 10. I think he should be fighting a David Avanesyan or Josesito Lopez type guy, but I get going for the money & fans with Amir so fair play there. He's still young, 24yrs, so plenty of time to ease into the higher caliber guys too so if he just fights another vet like Sammy Vargas thats fine too right now.

I think Boots is a fooking problem at 147. That guy looks like he's only fighting at half his capabilities like he's on some boxing Bruce Lee sh^t. I think Spence & Bud need to be watching out for Boots. And I fully expect Errol to decide to win a belt at 154 in another year, year & a half when Boots is on his doorstep.

Meh. All he fought were uber drivers just like Golovkin. Rolls, Szeremeta a tuneup to prepare for Murata? This guy’s a bum hunter Murata is Fielding level at best why does he need a tuneup

He hasn’t fought anyone to be rated that highly and I honestly don’t see the talent.

You lot need to slow down with the hype. It was the same way Chris Kongo was hyped after one fight, only to look like a complete bum in his next fight. I don’t even think Conor Benn can beat Chris Kongo tbh.

Conor Benn is gonna need to do some juicing if he hopes to compete with the gyno nips coming up in boxing today. Or put them in a long VADA program.

He has definitely improved. From being absolutely ****ing awful & needing a gift decision to beat a french street sweeper to being able to beat fringe euro level guys with zero power.

Yeah.... nah, not really. Least he ain't done anything yet to make me think he's anything special though it'd be cool for him to prove me wrong.

Vargas is a tough dude and definitely represented a decent step up but what happened wasn't any great demonstration of skill or boxing ability but more to do with Conor throwing the kitchen sink at him early and kinda surprising and overwhelming him.

Not saying it wasn't a legit win (even though I think Vargas was fully capable of continuing) but it ain't a strategy he can count on again, cos his opponents will be looking for the fast start in the future.

Nice domestic level talent on the rise. He can win the Lonsdale belt outright!

But a threat to the entire welterweight division? I don't see it. Not yet anyway.
