    Luis Ortiz.
He woulda made in the region of 15-20m dollars had he won the first fight then had a rematch.
It was a duck, boogeyman myth got busted.
Not a duck, but poor management by his team, who obviously didn't have the knowhow to rightly assess the situation Joshua was in. They wanted to make a play for (even) more money rather than seizing the opportunity (huge mistake). I'm sure Ortiz himself would have taken that fight, if he didn't have knucklehead middlemen (managers? lol) screwing up. Ortiz hasn't gotten many fights, so he hasn't been able to afford a good enough team. I think Ortiz minus his "businessmen" would have fought AJ for even less than was offered.

But no excuses ... his "team" royally screwed that up, and he has paid for it.

Yes. He calls out every one, but when the signed AJ contract arrived he conveniently changed his mind and refused the fight.

This was a contract created by his own promoter. For the fight he had screamed about.

there will never be a bigger duck in history of boxing, than that example. But still the Whyte fan girls will scream... "where whytes title shot" "Whyte will fight anyone" .... lol

The Bowe/Lewis debacle was extraordinary as well

Most fighters will side step another challenger if they can get straight to ''a'' champ. If not by merit, by lung power.

It was a short notice fight. That was reason ortiz team didn't take it. That was reason Eddie made the offer.

Ortiz Was a better opponent than ruiz / Miller. Much higher profile, so why didn't Eddie make that fight earlier and allow him proper preparation?

Of course Ruiz is running away.

Just like Dillian Whyte and everyone else.

Ortiz is going to have to get a mandatory position to get a big fight.
In Hearn's recent IFL interview, he talks about needing an opponent for Hrgovic and that Ortiz (IBF #8) could be a possibility.

I don't think that the Wilder rematch was officially signed at that point, that fight was in the winter IIRC, probably working on a handshake - pretty sure Ortiz asked for more to fight AJ than what was being offered...he didn't make as m,uch for the Wilder rematch than what was offered for AJ either.

I think this is a good fight to watch but now Ruiz could have other options. But then he probably does need a fight to see if the trainer change will click before fighting for a title again. Seems like this fight was being lined up two weeks ago so maybe it goes through

It is good knowing most other boxers are smarter than Ortiz. That is not saying much though.

The IBF mandatory is now down to Yoka, Ruiz and then Ortiz.
