Comments Thread For: Josh Warrington Urges Leeds Council To Allow Lara Rematch in Headingley

Former world champion Josh Warrington has issued an urgent appeal to the Leeds Council to allow him fight at Emerald Headingley Stadium. Back in February, one of the biggest upsets of the year took place when little known Mauricio Lara brutally knocked Warrington out, in the main event of card that was closed off to fans.

Bad enough he's activating a rematch clause on a non title fight, but now he needs to have his fans to influence the judges too? Jesus Christ

Wasn't Warrington the IBF Champ? Isn't Lara now the IBF Champ?

Warrington dropped the belt the day before the fight to avoid having to rematch Kid Galahad. Also, I'm pretty sure Lara wasn't even ranked going into the fight

Who is this dopes advisor? What happens to Josh Warrington's career after Mauricio Lara knocks him out a second time? Josh Warrington is no Anthony Joshua, in the sense that he can not run away for 12 rounds against a hungry relentless Mexican.

Why would Warrington want to get KO by spectators in Leeds United F.C football field? When Lara knocked-out Warrington in the beginning of the year, it went unnoticed ; this time the Leeds council suspects that hooligans may riot, as the article suggest. It would seem that Warrington is counting on the support of the drunk raging Leeds fans to discourage Mauricio from blasting him out cold, again.

And yet you don't use this logic for Deontay Wilder. What happens to the bronze bum if he gets knocked out a second time? They both have rematch clauses and are entitled to use them.

Josh doesn't feel any shame asking for more advantages. Too bad, of course they don't want him there. He's coming home like a dog with his tail between his legs. He might as well pack his bags now. Win on the road, or forget the free pints at the pub.

At least that is for a title. What's the point of this one?
