roy is coming off a spectacular performance vs jeff lacy, he looked damn good to me, but jeff lacy hasnt been the same since calzaghe took his soul. so would jones dominate lacy had they fought before lacy faced calzaghe? i mean come on, the way i see it , if you get in the ring then you shouuld be 100% ready, that whole "if he was in his prime" thing is BS, it holds no weight.
hopkins is not in his prime, but look at him still executing fighters at 46 yrs of age, so lets say the hopkiin-jones rematch happens and bhop knock jones head off his shoulders, what would u say "if roy was in his prime..blah, blah"
First off, you don't have to be Jones fan to understand that Johnson would not have even beat Jones that fought Lacy, much less a prime version of the man.......

Then, take into consideration that he did beat Tarver even when he looked like a totally different fighter than the one that was fighting up until the Ruiz fight. The triangle effect goes to show what Tarver could do when he was on becuse he went on to clearly beat Johnson after he KO'd Roy.

Moving on to Calzaghe vs. 39 year old Jones. Yes, Joe cut Roy and dominated the second half of the fight with his workrate and speed while Roy was battling the cut. That's a given. But what makes you consider him being able to beat a prime Jones when the old, nowhere close to his best one dropped Joe and had him in trouble in the very first round? Tell me how many times prime Roy got caught on the ropes and played rope-a-dope. Harldy ever. That's what cost him the Johnson fight and the Calzaghe fight. Insead of fighting like he used to, circling and throwing blinding fast combinations whenever an opponent got close, he covers up on the ropes and tries to counter. Not a poor strategy for guys who can't take a good shot or ones with a workrate/handspeed/southpaw stance that makes it hard to counter-punch. Prime Jones would have got to Joe effectively and circled to the middle of the ring when he got close instead of allowing him to hit his body and arms all night, occasionally getting a head shot in. Those points added up and it should be noted that 'past it' Jones was never hurt and was in the fight at the midway point.

Prime Roy vs. Tarver, Johnson and Joe are completely different fights.
And if anyone does come along and beat Jones again, it will be much of the same because there is nobody active or on the horizon that had a shot at beating a prime Roy Jones besides maybe a Klitschko, and that is pushing it.

And why is that? When Jones faced Johnson, he barely did anything but cover up. He was still kinda dealing with the shot that Tarver landed. Don't act like you didn't see the fights and realize the differences in the way Jones was fighting. You can't tell me you are that ignorant now.

Hell, Clinton Woods, who didn't get any better from when Jones annihilated him beat Johnson twice. Get real.

For everyone: One day, whether Joes is world class still or not, he will fight and TKO/KO Glen Johnson. Watch and see. He is on the docket for a Jones whippin, sooner or later. It will eventually happen. Roy made that clear. Watch and see.
