When two promoters are involved, there are two sets of interests. Now... I am going to go out on a limb here: I would imagine that even when a promoter is promoting two of his own fighters, both fighters have separate lawyers representing them at the signing.
If copromoting a fight was a set of communal interests a trust could be arrianged, with trustees and escrow existing wholly for the purpose of the fight as an entity. The fight would become the client. That is kind of what alphabet soup tries to do isnt it? The WBA...whatever, sets up a de facto fictional entity; that being a fight. The fight is based on the premise that no matter the fighters involved, there is a champion and a mandatory, chosen in accordance to the rules of the event at hand.
If you are thinking "well we don't really need promoters what do they do" pass GO and collect 200 dollars. You would be absolutely right. What do you think the Paul Brothers do? They gain a fan following, get the fans to request a contest, and the contest becomes the entity. Any promotion is for the event, and most of the promotion is just social media... Look how much they pulled in, you don't think Arum, or any other promoter would not want a piece of that action? But what do you think the Paul brothers would tell them if they made a pitch? it would be like what the Eskimo tells the fridge salesman... the compulsive clean freak tells the maid service...
