Where the hell is GGG by the way?
Why doesn't DAZN force Golovkin to fight "premium opponents?"

Because the fight doesn't make business sense.
Golovkin-Andrade does similar if not exactly the same numbers as GGG vs Some Bum.
And for their trouble, either Andrade catches an L, which more-or-less ends his career considering he's not a draw and no one wants to fight him thus making DAZN's investment in him a complete waste, or GGG loses and whatever potential sub-generating matchups like Mungia/Murata/Canelo might have been loses steam.
Golovkin-Canelo III is a megafight, meanwhile Canelo-Andrade would do the same business as Yildirim but less than BJS.
Andrade could have moved up in weight and built his brand like Sergio Martinez did in order to get the JCC JR payday. Andrade didn't do that.Comment

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but how is this tolerable? All these guys are allegedly about unifying and DAZN is supposedly about what is best for the sport.

So what is the reason to watch any MW fights on DAZN if the best guys are never going to fight each other?
why should Andrade move up and take a lesser fight? That would just be silly.

To get a shot at a super-star in boxing, you either have to build your brand up to where the fight makes business sense for the star to take the risk, or just get lucky. That's how it works across the board.

I make this comparison a lot: Sergio Martinez and Vanes Martirosyan.
Both guys had some level of straps: JCC Jr called out Martinez for his 154 title, while Martirosyan was calling for his shot at Canelo when he was the "Silver" champion (when that belt was new and allegedly meant something). The handlers of Canelo and JCC Jr blew both guys off: they were high-risk, low reward.
They took two paths:
Martirosyan decided to fight nobodies and call Canelo out Twitter until he was handed a shot. It didn't happen.
Martinez moved up in weight and fought the most avoided man in boxing for 250k. It was the fight of the year. He later won the title, got KO of the year, and then defended his belt with a bunch of highlight-reel KOs.
At that point Martinez and JCC Jr were doing similar TV numbers and it made business sense to make the fight. Did a million buys. Martinez is now a legend of his era.
Martirosyan fought bums until Top Rank lost interest in him. His skills declined and eventually became an opponent.
I'm tough on Andrade because he's gone the Vanes Martirosyan route. He may have gotten paid by DAZN, but his brand is nonexistent. He has no fans, so the fights with other stars don't make business sense. No one on Canelo or GGGs level is going to hand him a PPV payday when he brings nothing to the table but a lot of risk and a belt.Comment

I think Andrade did what he was supposed to do- he signed where the big names were. If he had pulled a Crawford- be a free agent and took a huge payday knowing it would be difficult to make the best fights In The division- I’d agree with you.

but Andrade went where those guys are and is still being passed over, not because he has no fans, but because he is an awkward lefty that is high risk.
He very well might beat GGG.
I just think he’s getting screwed.Comment

This. It isn't hard to figure out. And they certainly don't want him taking too tough fights for no money in the mean time. I think they will eventually coddle Canelo to face GGG and they will be OK in the end on GGG's contractComment

For the record, team GGG already rejected the third fight with Canelo (when they were both still under contract with DAZN) despite their claims of wanting it: https://www.boxingscene.com/golovkin...canelo--148381
DAZN had tried to restructure Canelo's deal which led to Canelo negotiating to get released, so it's possible they did the same with GGG but GGG agreed to their terms so they eased up on their pressure on him.
At any rate, as soon as the deal was announced I predicted GGG would try to play out his contract fighting scrubs because that's always been his comfort zone. It made no sense investing $100M in an a fighter coming off a loss who's never been particularly ambitious.Comment
