I'll admit....I don't know the whole history off the top of my head. But I'll say it confidently that I know my fair amount of the sport.
I wouldn't have thought so, no.

I put the whole "Roy fought a pack of cabbies and cops" right up there with the "Oscar isn't even a HOFer because he lost all of his big fights" argument in terms of ******ity.

It was on that basis that I arrived at the conclusion that your knowledge is limited.

Oscar is right, Roy's a washed up fighter who can only look good infront of tomato cans like Jeff Lacy
The beating Oscar took from Pacquiao was far worse than the Tarver and Joe fights. At least Roy had his moments in those fights...Oscar had none in the Pacquiao fight.

Is this the same Roy who said he stopped trying in Tarver III because his Dad was there? Quitting by another name...hmmm...

Roy never said that. I do remember the articles well and not a single quote saying that. More like a lot of inferences from journalists. I also remember Roy refuting this immediately after the Hanshaw fight, I believe.

You might be right, but it sounded like it to everyone who heard it. From http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box.../boxingmarch20

Their estrangement lasted for many years until a brief reconciliation in 2005, when Jones asked his father to help him train for the third Tarver fight.

It didn't go well. Jones lost badly and Big Roy was gone again. At a bizarre brunch with reporters months later in Memphis, Jones blamed the loss on his father, saying that subconsciously his father's presence didn't allow him to win.

"If I knock him out, who'll get the glory? Everybody would have given the glory to Roy Jones Sr.," Jones said at the brunch. "No glory would have gone to God nor myself. So would that have been right? If I won that fight any kind of way my father gets all the glory."

Roy Jones Jr., left, blamed his rubber match loss in 2005 to Antonio Tarver on his father, Roy Sr.

Big Roy heard about those comments but said he didn't pay much attention to them and that he didn't hesitate to return to the camp for the Sheika fight.

Yup. And therein lies the problem with some people. The focus is on what he said when it should be, what was asked? What if they had been discussing Roy's senior involvement, their issues following the fight and Roy Sr's ego? Instead someone created a story behind that quote, using his own ideas. It's disgusting. I see it a lot: Headline reads one fighter saying something that's never actually quoted in the article. Creating a story; it's done every day in anything the media covers.

I like what Jones said about giving the fans what they pay you for and if you quit, then it's time to hang em up.

                DLH is a chump now

Maybe, but the inference was pretty strong. Roy's always been a bit of a head case (somewhat earned...if I got doen in Seoul that way might bug me too).

It was pretty strong. Which is why it would be nice to know what they were talking about. I think the more telling thing in that article you linked (notice, again NOT a quote!) was that Roy Sr really didn't care. Furthermore, Jones refuted the statement by saying (and I quote), "I never said that." Then went on to explain (find your own quote there) .
