Comments Thread For: Joshua-Usyk: WBO Gives Hearn 48 Hours To Provide Proof of Fury Deal

Another layer has been added to the continued fallout in efforts to produce an undisputed heavyweight champion. The World Boxing Organization has issued a "Show Cause" to promoter Eddie Hearn, who must provide in the next 48 hours verifiable proof of a forthcoming showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. Failure to do so will leave the WBO to order a mandatory title fight between Joshua and number-one contender Oleksandr Usyk (18-0, 13KOs).

Should have got the WBC belt they'd let him have years and only have to defend against Matchroom fighters.
Eddie needs to buy a sanctioning body the way Warren, ARum and Haymon did.

48 hours isn't much time. Feels like Joshua will either vacate the title or get an extension. If Wilder has to fight Fury again, Usyk is a dangerous opponent to have in the interim. And if Joshua loses, then he has to rematch Usyk to get the shine back. Then we're talking about Fury-Joshua in late 2022.

This is just a formality before they order the fight. They're already negotiating the Usyk fight

The arbitration news broke Monday. Usyk’s lawyers sent a letter the WBO on Tuesday. The WBO sent a letter to Hearn on Wednesday.
