Comments Thread For: Shawn Porter Moving On From Terence Crawford, Eyeing July Return

Former welterweight champion Shawn Porter has admitted that he can't continue to wait for a fight against Terence Crawford to come to fruition. Porter (31-3-1, 17 KOs) admitted that he's moving on from a potential big-time fight against Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs) and is instead eyeing a return to the ring later this summer.

If the top guys won't fight each other, they might as well retire. There's nothing else meaningful for them out there. Crawford is one of my favourite fighters but it's really frustrating to be a fan of his, I can't deny it. I don't know what the reason is for him being so inactive, whether it's Arum or something else, but whatever it is he needs to do something about it.

“If anyone is saying that Terence Crawford is ducking Shawn Porter or Errol Spence Jr., you have to also take into account what he’s doing for himself,” Porter continued.
“I think he’s trying to line himself up for something big, and he doesn’t want to let that opportunity slip by. That’s me verbalizing that I understand the lack of communication from him where a fight with me may come in. He may be working on something that is bigger, and I have to respect him for that.”

The problem, Shawn, is that like with Andrade, certain of these fighters waste YEARS of their prime waiting on the golden goose instead of just taking what's there.

          Porter is too respectful.

I doubt porter’s career was ever on hold, he wants to be respected in terms of money. I can appreciate that, fighting Bud isn’t the payday that you can demand or get in the same league as Canelo or Joshua. So going the mandatory route isn’t going to pay off for someone who is after money not legacy.

Thurman also wanted 10m to fight Crawford, and currently he is inactive for the last 2 years. Crawford himself isn’t getting any younger, no fights since stopping Brook. Either move to 154 and start trying to get the belts at that weight before PBC move those belts over to Spence.

And hopefully once his contract expires he can be working as a free agent against anyone who is available.

It may be time for Terence Crawford to move up to 154 now because it's obvious he's done competing at welterweight.

T.Duckford pricing everybody out when his own promoter can't even pay him. nobody even wants to be part of a purse bid involving this entitled idiot. he has done absolutely nothing at welter weight and was handed a belt.

No one in this thread read the article lol.

Porter literally says Crawford isn’t ducking him or Spence.

No one will realize that and continue with their insane narratives.

He was the number one contender for the WBO but never signed and mailed the one page form necessary to jumpstart the mandatory enforcement process.
